Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update for Tuesday, December 10th, 2019. We have passed Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, one of the busiest weekends of the year for massage-chair retailers, thatโs for sure, and we are approaching Christmas, and the remainder of the holidays.
[SCREEN TEXT: Christmas Shipping Deadlines Fast Approaching]
Alan: I might just mention that if you are thinking of getting a massage chair for Christmas, boy, you better order. This is the, I believe the white-glove delivery guaranteed date of delivery has passed earlier this week, or yesterday. And the guaranteed curbside standard delivery, you probably have until Friday of this week, at the latest, and so I would encourage you, if you’re going to get a massage chair, get it, get it now, donโt wait. And there are back-orders already, like the OHCO M.8, you, a lot of these, a lot of the colors, we had a customer place an order over the weekend, and he’s not going to get his chair until well in to the new year. So, you know, make sure you donโt wait, make sure you understand, or make sure that, we all, we also need to make sure we understand what the back-order status is on particular models. But anyway, just if you’re going to get a massage chair, get it now, get it soon.
[SCREEN TEXT: Tread Cautiously with Impulse Massage Chair Purchases!]
Alan: And I thought I might also mention for people who are buying these, you know, this is a busy time of the year, a lot of people buy chairs, a lot of people maybe even buy them at the spur of the moment, or they see a good deal and they jump on it right away. I would strongly encourage you to make sure you do some background work on the company you’re buying it from, the brand of the chair you’re getting, make sure you understand the warranty of the chair that you’re buying, make sure you understand if it’s an in-home warranty, or if it’s just a parts warranty, or if you have to ship the chair back if there’s a problem with the chair. Some of these cheaper chairs donโt have, you know, in-home warranties for their chairs, and even some brand-name chairs will, they have in-home warranties, but even in your neck of the woods, where there, you may be in a part of the country where there’s no tech nearby. We had a case of someone in a point in Colorado where the closest tech was 200 miles away, so you’re looking at significant travel time and travel premiums to have a tech come out to take care of your chair should anything happen, and this after, you know, of course, during the factory warranty, thatโs all supposed to be covered, but sometimes it’s hard to find techs to come out to particular zip codes, or towns, that are you know, kind of quite a ways away from any main hub, where a tech would reside. Also, keep your boxes because, and make sure you understand the return policy of the company you’re buying your chair from, make sure you know how many days you have, if it’s how many, or weeks, or months that you have for returning the chair. Make sure you understand when that 30 or 60 or 90 days begins, and when it ends. Make sure you understand what your cost will be for returning a chair, if there’s a restocking fee, if there’s going to be a shipping fee, or a back-billing on the original shipping fee, make sure that you understand what your costs are. So, people donโt think about these things when they see a good deal. All of a sudden, there’s a good deal on, you know, whatever.com, and they buy a chair based on price, and how good the picture looks, but then they realize after theyโve purchased the chair that there’s a whole bunch of things that they never thought about, you know, who’s there to tell you what to think about? I mean, thatโs what we’re trying to do, but it’s not that easy. So, make sure you understand, and make sure when you buy from a retailer, you buy from a retailer that is there to support you should the massage chair company that you buy the chair from, or that imports, or builds the chair, make sure that theyโve got good customer support as well. But anyway, those are some things to think about. Keep your boxes when you get your chair because in case you want to do a return, you’re going to have to send it back in the original containers, in the original boxes, and if not, you’ll get dinged for that. And anyway, those are just a couple of tips at this holiday season when people are buying frantically at the last minute, and realizing that ‘Holy cow, if I want to get a chair for my loved one, I’ve got to decide by today, or tomorrow, or Friday.’ Make sure that you know, that you know what you’re getting yourself in to, and if you have any questions, you can feel free to give us a call anytime. I’d be happy to answer questions for you or tell you what things to be on the look out for, or let you know. You know, we talk to people that donโt buy from us as well. We’re happy to give our advice on you know, what things to watch out for, and look out for. Anyway, thatโs for the holidays. Of course, these things apply to any time you buy a chair, but it’s particularly poignant during the holiday season when people are kind of frantic to get stuff by a particular deadline.
[SCREEN TEXT: Ogawa Touch 3D Discontinued; New Ogawa Stretch 3D Model]
Alan: Let’s see, what other things have we got going on this week? We’ve got, oh, the Touch, Ogawa Touch 3D chair has been discontinued. Theyโve introduced a new chair to the market called the Stretch 3D, Ogawa Stretch 3D. It looks very similar to the Touch 3D, I just downloaded the pictures yesterday, and got the links for the information, but I don’t know yet, the primary differences between it and the Touch 3D, other than the price is higher. Its MAP, its minimum advertised price is $6999, other than that, I don’t know much. The chair looks nice, it’s got, it looks like in comes in a black, and a white, and it’s a nice-looking chair, very similar to the body frame of the Touch 3D, and the old Ogawa Smart 3D. But anyway, that chair has, the Touch 3D has been discontinued, and the Stretch 3D is the new chair, we donโt have it on the website yet.
[SCREEN TEXT: The New D.Core Chair Brand is Available – The Cirrus Model is in our CA and AZ Showrooms]
Alan: Also, we have the new D.Core line, and there’s the Cirrus, and the Cloud. We have the Cirrus in, we now have it in our California showroom, and our Utah, or sorry, not our Utah showroom, our Arizona showroom, very nice chair. It’s a beautiful-looking chair, it’s got real wood paneling on the sides. You can see pictures on our Instagram pages, the California Instagram page, and my Instagram page, my Utah one, and it shows you the wood, it’s got a beautiful accent light behind the, behind the panels. It’s got a strong massage, if you want a good neck-and-shoulder massage, this chair will give it to you. It’s a 3D chair, it has rollers in the arms, on the underbelly of the arm, and so thatโs the first chair that we’ve seen that has rollers on the arms and the hands, but a nice chair. I’ve only had a chance to sit on it once when I was at the Arizona showroom, when we first got it. My staff at the California showroom just got it yesterday and set it up, and have been sitting on it, and enjoying it, but thatโs a nice chair. It’s from, it’s a Furniture for Life line, so it’s the same company that builds the Positive Posture chairs, the OHCO, and is the distributor for BodyFriend, and Panasonic in the USA, so a good chair, a good, solid chair. But anyway, we’ll have that up on the website hopefully this week as well, and you can learn more about it.
[SCREEN TEXT: Fujimedic Brand Name Changed to JPMedic – Kumo Model Remains the Same]
Alan: Getting back to, OK so, Fujimedic, which is, Fujimedic is a company that is a part of the Cozzia/Ogawa company, or group of companies, and the Fujimedic Kumo is the model that we carry from that. Well, thatโs the only chair they have in that line, but theyโve changed the name of Fujimedic to JPMedic, and we are waiting for their logo, so that we can make that change on our website, but on our website, it still says Fujimedic, but that is changing. So, when you hear the words JPMedic, or Fujimedic, know that they are one in the same. It’s kind of like the OHCO and DreamWave, one in the same, they donโt use the word DreamWave anymore for the OHCO line. But anyway, thatโs an important thing to know.
[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki/Titan is New Inada USA Distributor Beginning December 15th, 2019]
Alan: Also, Osaki/Titan is the new distributor for the Inada massage chairs from Family Inada in Japan. They will be carrying the Inada, the old Inada DreamWave, used to be called the Inada Sogno, S-O-G-N-O, and then later changed to the Inada Sogno DreamWave, and now it’ll be called the Inada DreamWave. That chair will be sold through Osaki/Titan starting on December 15th, so next week. That chair will be retailing at $7999. They also have the new Therapina Robo chair coming out, and I’ve talked about this one before. We saw it last, or in January of this year at CES, and we will be, and that, and I took some video footage of it. It looks different now, it doesnโt look quite the same way it did back then. Theyโve made some, theyโve kind of, the arms and the legs are, they still have the same airbag arrangement, but they’re now housed within the frame, or the silhouette of the chair, but I don’t know what that price, that chair’s going to retail for, and I donโt think it’s going to be ready until, they said until January. They thought maybe it would be ready in December, but I donโt think it’ll be ready until January, February, but we’ll keep you posted on that as we learn more. And I don’t know, I don’t know anything about any of the other features of it, other than it has pretty cool airbags, and it has a fairly sophisticated computer technology system for diagnostics and for running the chair. It looks pretty cool, but I’ll have more about that as we go, as we learn more about it.
[SCREEN TEXT: Holiday Sales Still Going On โฆ]
Alan: A lot of the, well, not a lot, but a few of the sales that ended, that we had Black Friday through Cyber Monday, and that week that ended on Sunday. Infinity does not have the free white glove, and the free three-year extended warranty anymore. The Human Touch, the $500 off the Novo XT2 is done, and let’s see what other ones? I think all the rest are still good, so you can still, you’re still going to get a free one-year warranty for any Osaki/Titan chair thatโs priced under $3000, and a free two-year extended for any chair thatโs over $3000, thatโs good until the end of the year. The Osaki First Class chair is $4999 on sale, usually $8999, or $7999, thatโs a very good price for that chair. It’s a strong roller massage, if you’re looking for strong rollers, strong foot rollers, a strong massage overall, that price is, that chair is a great chair for you, and the price is really good. The Osaki Admiral is on sale for $4299, instead of $4399, and the Osaki Maxim is regularly $3299, on sale for $2699. And Furniture for Life still has their Positive Posture Brio, or sorry, the Positive Posture Sol, which is their chair thatโs $1995, or $1999, that chair, it comes free with the purchase of a Positive Posture Brio, or a Panasonic MAJ7 chair, thatโs good until the end of the year. Johnson Wellness, starting on the 12th, they will have their Jin for $2999, and their Kagra for $3999, and the JP1100 for $7999, and thatโs good from the 12th until the 21st, and Luraco has $500 off on the iRobotics 7 Plus until the end of the year, and Ogawa has, they have the Refresh Plus for $1999, the Active L Plus for $2999, and the Master Drive AI for $8999 until January 6th. So, those are the current sales that are still going on. So, there’s still lots of good deals out there, and plus, we have certain in-house sales that you have to call us or come visit us to understand, to know what they are, but feel free to drop by any of our showrooms. Youโve got one in Utah, one in Arizona, one in California, and we would love to have you come visit. It might be worth the trip coming out as well, if you live out of state. But anyway, you can call us and find out what we’ve got cooking on, or what we’ve got cooking in terms of current sales in house, in-house sales. I think thatโs just about it for this week. This is a little bit shorter, it makes up for my long one last time.
[SCREEN TEXT: New Website Design in the New Year]
Alan: But anyway, I’ve got some interesting stuff coming up in the near future. We’re going to have a new website, complete, complete website redesign in January. We’ve been working on it since September, September, October, yeah, we’ve been working on it for four, it’ll be four months, and it’s a fairly hefty project. It’s pricey, it’s time consuming because, you know, my site’s been around for 15 years, and so there’s a lot of, there’s a lot of pages, and a lot of sections, and categories, and graphics, and software things that have to be converted over to the new site. But we’re going to have a new website, going to have a new look, a new feel, very different from what we had before, but hopefully very user friendly, and very intuitive for you to use as a massage-chair shopper.
[SCREEN TEXT: New Brio Plus & Brio Sport Coming in the New Year]
Alan: But and then also, we have, we’ll be having a couple of other new models that are coming out in the new year. They’ll be the new Brio Plus and the Brio Sport, and I’m not sure which one, I think we’re going to having the Brio Plus in our showrooms. We are selling our floor model Brios right now. They will still be available, the Positive Posture Brio, the basic Brio, but we’re selling our floor models for $2999.
[SCREEN TEXT: Great Deals on our Pre-Owned Directory]
Alan: I’ve also got, boy, if you go to our pre-owned directory, you can see some really good sales there as well. We’ve got a, we actually have an OHCO M.8 right now for $7499. We have an Infinity IT-8500, or sorry, an Infinity Smart Chair X3, I think we’re selling that one for $4499, it’s regularly $6299, thatโs a very, very popular chair, it’s a brown one. Anyway, we’ve got some other good deals. Well, let me tell you, I’ll just take a quick look right now. As of this moment, as of today, as of this hour, of course, after I get off the phone, someone else will be, someone will jump in and buy something. Oh, we have our floor-model Touch 3D, you know the Touch 3D we talked about thatโs discontinued, that was discontinued, we have our floor-model from the California showroom. It’s in wonderful condition, perfect condition, it’s $1999. It’ll still come with a one-year parts-and-labor warranty, free shipping, our Lifetime Labor warranty, that all remains intact. But anyway, there’s some great deals there if you’re looking for some Christmas savings, or some holiday savings.
[SCREEN TEXT: 888-259-5380]
Alan: Anyway, I guess thatโs about it for me. if you have any questions, feel free to give me a call at 888-259-5380, and myself, or someone else will be glad to answer any question that you might have. If you feel more comfortable placing your order over the phone, you can always call that number as well, if you donโt want to go online through our website.
