Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – July 10, 2017”
Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com’ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update for Monday, July 10th, 2017. I hope you’re having a great summer. We just got back ourselves from a family vacation up back home to Canada, and we spent some time at West Edmonton Mall, at the world’s largest indoor water park, or at least it seemed like it. And we took some friends with us up this year, and showed them the sites, and went to Banff, and Waterton Park. It was just a wonderful trip, a wonderful, wonderful trip, good weather, which is rare, for a straight week up in Canada. But back at it this morning, and getting in to our massage chair industry update.

Alan: As far as stock goes, nothing particularly of note. I will mention, though, that the Panasonic 30007 has been discontinued.

Alan: You know, I figure it’s about time, that chair has been around almost from the time I started in the business 12 years ago. I think it came out maybe 11 years ago, 10 years ago, and there used to be a series of 30000 chairs, like the 30004, 30005, and the 30007 was kind of the peak model of that series, but that chair has finally been discontinued. It was a smaller chair, it had a manual lever to extend the legs, so still a little bit more old fashioned, a little more old school, but a nice chair, anything from Panasonic is a nice chair, as you know. But that chair now has been taken off of our website, the 30007 from Panasonic.
[SCREEN TEXT: Ogawa Summer Sale]
Alan: The Fourth or July – or sorry, not the Fourth of July – but since the Fourth of July, there aren’t really many sales going on right now. Ogawa continues to offer discounts on their chairs, and their sale, until later in August, is $1000 off the Active – and we did reactivate the Active – because they finally formalized their pricing again, and so we’ve published that chair again on our website. That chair is on sale now for, what is it, $3999? Let me make sure that that’s true, make sure I’m not leading you astray on that, but they have $1000 off on the Active. They have $600 off on the Refresh, which is a significant savings. I mean, the Refresh is only $2999 to start, they had a sale earlier where I think it was $400 off, but now they’re pumping it up to $600 off. And the Ogawa Active does have $1000 off, and it’s regularly $4499, so it’s on sale for $3499, and of course, the Smart 3D, which is their top-of-the-line chair, sells for $6999, and they have it on sale for $500 off of that, plus you get the extended warranty, the five-year extended warranty, which is a great deal.

Alan: Now, we have a used one on our pre-owned directory. It’s the ‘Cappuccino’ floor model that we had in our California showroom, and that chair we’re selling for $4999, so it’s $2000 off the regular price. It’s about a year old, it’ll come with the warranty. I believe it comes with the rest of the three-year warranty, so it’ll be about two years parts and labor remaining on that chair. But anyway, that’s a great deal for the Ogawa Smart 3D, and but the new ones are on sale anyway. We also have – I told you last time – well, the Cozzia Qi is up now on the website. We’re waiting for information on the Cozzia Qi SE, which is a 3D L-track from Cozzia. I understand that Ogawa has a new model coming out. I don’t know much about it, but I suspect that it might be an L-track, since Cozzia and Ogawa are the same, manufactured by the same company in China, and basically, man, it is the same company here in the US, part of the same corporate entity, corporate structure. But that chair, I’ll know more about the Qi SE hopefully in the near future. I understand it’s supposed to come out in August. And then Positive Posture Brio, I thought I’d have that chair up on the website, I didn’t because of vacation, and taking care of some other business here for the stores, but that chair should also be up on our website before the next update, and that Positive Posture Brio is another 3D L-track. So, we’ve got a bunch of them coming out, we’ve got the Qi SE from Cozzia, possibly an Ogawa chair, even though I don’t know if it’s a 3D chair, the Positive Posture Brio will be out, that’s a 3D L-track, and then also we have, don’t forget the Luraco Legend, which is supposed to be out at the end of this quarter, or possibly the beginning of next quarter. That’s called the Luraco Legend, which is also is a 3D L-track.
[SCREEN TEXT: Casada Massage Chairs]
Alan: I also received a new model in our Utah showroom, called the Alphasonic. It’s a Casada chair, C-A-S-A-D-A. Now, apparently, the Casada chairs, which I’ve heard of before, it’s a company out of Germany that imports those chairs, but Elite Massage Chairs is the US distributor for them. And as you may or may not know, the Elite chairs were – and they have the chair called the RoboPad, the Elite RoboPad, and they had – oh, I can’t remember the name of their other chair, but they had another chair out before as well, I don’t know if they still carry that. But the RoboPad was Elite’s chair, and now they are distributing the Casada chairs, and they’ve got an Alphasonic, a Betasonic, and some other one. Well, they sent us an Alphasonic to the showroom in Utah. I didn’t have the pins to hold the ottoman on, and then I left on vacation, but I’m back now. Hopefully, the pins are there, and we can attach that ottoman to the chair, and people can start to experience that chair. It’s a L-track chair, what makes it a little bit unique is it has kind of a music – and I still am not quite clear on it, so I’m not going to talk too much about it – but it does have a bit of a, like kind of a music-system feature to it, and it has to do with, I don’t know, I’m not even going to talk about it. There’s an extra little box that comes along with it that has, I don’t know, I’ll let you know more about it on the next update once I’ve sat in it, and I’ve experienced the chair, and can talk about these additional features that we don’t see on any other chair.
[SCREEN TEXT: Cover for iRobotics 7 – $190]
Alan: Now, Luraco announced that they came out with a cover for the iRobotics 7. It is a water-resistant fabric, it’s shaped for the i7, it comes in a little pouch. Anyway, I just thought you’d want to know. If you want that product, it’s $190, and it’s a cover for the iRobotics 7 from Luraco. Well, you know, that’s about it as far as news goes. I’ve told you before, the summers are usually pretty slow, there’s not a lot of activity going on in July or August. We expect things to start cooking up, you know, in the end of the third quarter, beginning of the fourth quarter, as people, or as the companies start to gear up for the holiday season , some new models probably come out, which we’ve talked about here, some new ones are coming out, and of course, I’ll keep you posted about any of those.
[SCREEN TEXT: Massage Chair Relief Site Redesign PLUS My Chair Finder]
Alan: We’re working on a site redesign, and you should see that very soon. We have a wonderful new feature called the Chair Finder, or I think we’re calling it ‘My Chair Finder,’ or something like that. It’s a software program that my web guy, who is a software programmer, developed to help you locate the kind of chair that would best suit you, based on the features that you want, the price point that you have, and it’s a software, I’ve seen the beta. It’s really cool, it’s not just a list of – like just a concrete list of chairs that fit the various and sundry options, or feature sets – this is a software where you can pick and choose the feature that you want, and find all the chairs that have those features. It’s a pretty cool software. We have over 50 chairs, I believe, on the website that we sell, and so it’ll help you kind of siphon them down to the chairs that best meet your needs. And then if there’s not enough options for the selections that you’ve made, you can delete some of the selections, or uncheck some of the selections, and then it’ll bring up all the chairs that’ll have those features, minus those deleted selections, or unchecked selections. So, anyway, it’s a pretty cool software, I’m excited about it. We should have that out with the redesign of the site, which should be hopefully soon. I keep pestering my web guy, and I know he’s working on it, but that should be coming out soon as well.
