In a recent study, researchers believe that stress may be a contributing cause to death from liver disease, although no medical link was in the study. The researchers from Edinburgh, Scotland said that in addition to obesity and hypertension, stress is considered a risk factor for cardiovascular disease as well. This is what sparked the idea that there may be a potential link between stress and liver disease.
The researchers reviewed data from a survey of 166,000 participants in the United Kingdom and then followed their health progress. The researchers suspected that there was an indirect relationship between stress and the development of liver disease.
“This study provides further evidence for the important links between mind and body, and of the damaging effects psychological distress can have on physical wellbeing.” Said Dr. Tom Russ, of the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.
