[SCREEN TEXT: Calf Rollers]
Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we’re going to talk about the calf airbags, or the calf massage, in general, of the Osaki Pro Maestro massage chair.

Alan: This chair is kind of unique in that it has – it does not have calf rollers, some people have been told by other retailers that this chair has calf rollers, and it does not have calf rollers – but it does have calf airbags that knead your calves. What it also has are knobules behind the calves that will be pushed by the airbags in to the back of your calves –that muscle is called the gastrocnemius – and that will give the back of your calves a good massage. This also has the airbags on either side of the calf, and they will inflate, and you’ll see that when it does inflate, it will kind of wrap around the calves.

Alan: And so, you’re going to get compression from the sides, and you’re also going to get compression on the front by the outside airbag along the anterior – I think it’s peroneus, the – oh, what is it – anterior tibialis muscle, sorry. That’s the muscle that usually gets tight when you have shin splints. That’s where your shin-splint issue is, and these airbags, most chairs will do this, but the airbags will kind of wrap around the calves and dig in to the anterior tibialis muscle. And then, while the calf massage is working, the foot massage is also going on, but I’m just going to wait until this program is done, because I want you to see how the airbags knead the calves. And what happens when they knead the calves, and you’ll see this in just a moment, is that the inner airbags move up and down. And so, you’ve got the outer airbags compressing against your calves, on the outside of the calves, and then you’ve got the interior muscles, or sorry, the interior airbags that will knead up and down and start to massage your calves that way. So, it’s not just compression, every chair has a compression massage from airbags in the calves, but this one actually compresses, and then moves up and down to knead your calves. So, if you have a job where you’re standing all day, or if you’re a runner, or – and now you can see the calves kneading, you see that, how they’re kind of moving in a circular motion, a little bit up and down, up and down – that’s the calf kneading motion. You don’t see that on a lot of massage chairs, and it’s kind of cool, I kind of like it. It’s a throwback to the old Inada YuMe that had the calf airbag kneading, and I’d never seen that before, and now we’re seeing it rear its head again on these newer Osaki models, the Osaki Maestro and the Osaki Ekon, but that is how the calf massage works on this chair.

Alan: There are no calf rollers behind the calves. You may have heard that, and you may hear that, but I’m actually sitting in the chair, and I can tell you, there are no calf rollers. But the airbags do a pretty cool thing here, with the kneading of the calves. It’s kind of up and down, and in and out, while these airbags are inflating and working on the anterior tibialis muscle that I talked about earlier.
