I just love getting emails from massage chair shoppers. They represent what folks are really thinking about and concerned about based on their particular circumstances. I received this question from a podiatrist and it covers some good issues that many shoppers may be considering.

I’m starting my research on massage chairs to add to my podiatry practice. I would like to find a chair less than $4000 that I can use for patients and employees as a free benefit. Also would like the chair to allow me to work on their feet while they get a massage. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the email. I guess the question I have is whether you want to have a chair with foot massage for those times when a patient sits in the chair and you are not working on the feet. If you are looking for a chair that does NOT have a foot massage feature, then I might suggest the Inada i1, which is a Japanese-made, near zero failure rate chair. A great, durable, and very utilitarian massage chair. You can check it out here:

Another “foot-less” massage chair to consider would be the Human Touch HT-7450, which has a vigorous massage and integrates the zero gravity feature for low back pain sufferers. Zero gravity seating makes for a very comfortable massage. Here is the link to that chair:

I have the HT-7120 and HT-7450 in my showroom. Both are great chairs for a practice setting. I’ve had the Inada i1 in my showroom too and it is fantastic as well. The Human Touch chairs have 1 year parts and labor, in-home warranties, whereas the Inada chair has a 3 years parts and labor, in-home warranty.
Now, if you are considering a chair with a foot massage, that fits in the under $4K cost, I would strongly recommend an Osaki chair. They are ALL under $4000 and all are quite feature-rich. I particularly like the OS-6000 (or OS-7200H, which is the same chair as the OS-6000 but with heat), since it has music, zero gravity, plenty of airbag massage, and a good vigorous massage. This model can fit tall and short people alike. The Osaki chairs have a 1 year parts and labor, in-home warranty as well. You could also look at the Osaki OS-4000 massage chair, which is even less money, but with a leaner feature-set. I would stay away from the OS-7000 although it is Osaki’s top selling model and priced below $4000. The reason is that it is a very, very vigorous massage and might be TOO intense for some of your patients. Even with roller strength adjustment it is still very, very vigorous.
The Panasonic 30000 series of chairs are very good and in your price range, but are not very comfortable for folks over 5’10” tall. Great chair, very durable but not great for tall folks.
