Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com’ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update for Tuesday, September 5th, 2017, not a lot of news today. Things are kind of slow in the massage chair business. Of course, they’re gearing up for the fourth quarter, and of course Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and throughout December is our busiest time of the year. So, stock will be hopefully beefed up for all the massage chair companies. The only new model that I’m aware of that’s coming out before Christmas would be the Luraco Legend, which is the 3D L-track.

[SCREEN TEXT: 3D Roller Track DEFINED!]

Alan: Now, when I say 3D L-track – and I’m going to talk about L-tracks a little bit later in this video, and define an L-track – but 3D means three dimensional. So, when you – all massage chairs roll and tap up and down and side to side – that’s two dimensions, along the x-axis and the y-axis, and now, the third dimension is the z-axis, where the massage rollers can move forward and back, and not every chair does that. Not every chair has the 3D-intensity adjustment, and what happens is when you can move the rollers forward and back, you can dig the rollers deeper in to the spinal muscles, or retract them farther away from the spinal muscles, to make them more or less intense, respectively.

[SCREEN TEXT: L-Track Rollers DEFINED]

Alan: And so, when I say 3D L-track, it means that the chair has an L-track, which I will discuss – well, you know what, let’s just talk about it now – an L-track means that the chair rollers come down the back, up and down, from the top to the bottom of the spine, and then go underneath the seat, and massage the glute muscles, that’s the L-shape. The traditional chairs, before the L-track came along, the traditional chairs just followed the S-curve of the spine, from top to bottom of the spine, ending at around the tailbone. Now, they go down the spine and curve underneath the seat, that’s the L-shape. So, when I say 3D L-track, that is what I mean. And Luraco has a 3D L-track that we’re waiting for to show up at the end of October, beginning of November. We hope it’ll be soon, because we’d like to have it in our showroom before Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas rush begins.

[SCREEN TEXT: Summary Reviews for Infinity Altera & Positive Posture Brio]

Alan: OK, so, I have recently posted brief summary reviews on the Positive Posture Brio and the Infinity Altera. These are two models that we received in both of our showrooms a couple weeks ago. The Altera took the place of the Infinity Iyashi, which has been discontinued, and the difference between the Altera and the Iyashi, the main difference, is that the Altera is for a smaller body. It can handle people as short as 4′ 8″ up to 6′ 2″. The Iyashi more for like 5′ something up to 6′ 6″ or 6′ 5″. So, the Altera is a smaller chair, it doesn’t take up as much space, but it’s a very nice chair, we really like it. The remote control is a little different from the other Infinity remotes, but it’s a very nice chair, and you can take a look at my review, and it’s just a brief review. I will be writing a more comprehensive review, in the next week or so, on that chair. And the Brio is, it’s also a 3D L-track chair, the Altera is not a 3D chair, it is an L-track chair, but it is not a 3D L-track, so you’ve only got one setting for the two-dimensional rollers. It’s just from side to side and up and down, but the depth cannot be adjusted. What you feel is what you get, as far as the depth goes. The Brio, it does have a depth adjustment, it does have the 3D rollers. But now, that chair, even at its fullest, and most forward position of the rollers, in the third dimension, is still not a very, very intense, not a deeply intense massage chair, like some of the other chairs that we carry. So, but it’s a very nuanced, and a very, kind of a, a very, it kind of has almost like a Japanese feel to it, a very nice feel to it, and a very comfortable massage. We’ve sold a number of those since the chair came out, but anyway, those reviews are up.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Customer Interview on our YouTube Channel]

Alan: Also, I have a new customer interview with a customer named Thad Gerber, and he’s just such a good guy because it took us like two weeks to get the audio and the visual to work on our recording, and we finally got it to work. He’s such a patient man, but he’s a customer local to our Southern California store, and he bought a chair. He bought a Luraco iRobotics 7, and then traded it out for an Inada DreamWave, so he has a perspective on both chairs. The reason he traded it out was because the trapezius massage on the DreamWave was superior, and he wanted that, but he also spoke highly of the iRobotics 7.

Alan: So, that’s a good interview if you want to listen to a guy that’s had both chairs, and has an opinion on both chairs. But you can see that on my YouTube channel, and that’s YouTube.com/MassageChairRelief, no hyphens, just the MassageChairRelief, all run together.

[SCREEN TEXT: Please Feel Free to Leave a Chair Review!]

Alan: Anyway, and then also, speaking of reviews, or interviews and reviews, we really like to get reviews from people about chairs, and of course, about their experience of buying chairs, and we always encourage our customers to leave reviews on our website, or on our Yelp page, or on our Google page, and we would encourage you to do the same. But we have had people who have not purchased from us, but have bought a chair, and have a respective opinion about that chair, and I encourage them to leave reviews as well. So, if you have a chair, or if you, you know, if you bought a chair, and you have an older one that we still, you know, and we have that model on our website, please feel free to leave a review about that. Just go to the product page of any, on any product page of our website, and at the bottom of every product page, there’s a review section. You can leave a review, we’d love to have your review, even if you didn’t buy your chair from us. But of course, we would love you to buy your chair from us, that’s what I’m in business for, ultimately, but please feel free to leave reviews. We love having reviews on our Yelp page, on our YouTube channel, on our Facebook, you know, on our Google page, we just appreciate reviews because that helps other people decide on a chair. I mean, I could tell you all day long a chair is great, but if you have, you know, 10 reviews saying it’s a great chair, and maybe 1 review questioning something about the chair, that holds a lot of water for a customer, and we want people to have those biased and unbiased opinions of previous customers. Oh, well, yeah, and I think that’s just about it, I think that’s it. I wanted to make sure that you understood the difference between what the 3D was, and what the L-track was, and I think we explained that pretty well. Not a lot of news this week in the massage chair industry, and we are waiting for the Luraco Legend, as I mentioned. And of course, if we hear of anything, we will let you know.

[SCREEN TEXT: Cozzia Qi Redesign]

Alan: The Cozzia Qi, they’ve redesigned the chair, so – not redesigned the look of it, but redesigned the assembly of it – so that it can fit in two or three boxes. They had trouble fitting that thing through 36 – you had to have a 36-inch door to fit the chair in your home, or in your hallways, or in your inner doors, and that really precluded a lot of people from buying that chair. It’s a very nice chair, heavy on the scan-and-diagnostic end, a very good chair, but that chair is being redesigned in the next month or so to allow that chair to fit in any home, and then assembled once it’s in the home. The Cozzia Qi SE, which is their L-track, their first L-track, I sat on that at the Las Vegas Furniture Market. It’s a nice chair, it rivals pretty much any other Chinese chair, as far as I’m concerned. There’s nothing exceptional about it, it’s got the cool 4D – they call it 4D – but it’s basically a little knob that adjusts the three dimensions of the massage, you know, the depth of it, and it also adjusts the speed, which many companies call the fourth dimension, but it’s just a speed feature that increases the speed of the rollers, and that chair was OK. It felt like a typical Chinese chair, nothing to write home about, but we will not be able to carry that chair yet. For some reason, they don’t want us to carry that one yet, but they did that with the Cozzia Qi at first, and then they, of course, now they have allowed us to carry it. But anyway, the Qi SE, I think the chairs that will be comparable to that, as far as rivaling that might be the Luraco Legend, the Positive Posture Brio, and the Human Touch Novo XT, which are all 3D L-tracks, even though the Novo XT seems to be a little bit of a cut above. It’s definitely a well-designed-and-functioning chair, and you can feel the quality of it when you sit in it, and we’re expecting the same from the Luraco Legend. We’re expecting that to be a high-quality chair, American made again, with the engineering smarts of the Luraco people, they’re good people over there, they know what they’re doing.
