Hi Doc, thanks for all your videos and a great website. In your opinion, can the Iyashi do as good a job for the neck and shoulders compared to the 8500 even without the Accuroll Function? One review says the Refresh Auto function on the Iyashi does a very strong neck and shoulder massage. Does it mean it is as capable in the neck area as the 8500, just have to learn how to turn it on??? Thanks. Regards, Simon

Hi, Simon
Thanks for your email. Although the neck and shoulder massage is “better” in the Refresh program of the Iyashi, it is not at all as vigorous and thorough as that of the IT-8500. I have both chairs side by side in my showroom and the general consensus is that if you are choosing between the two chairs and a vigorous neck massage is quite important to you, the IT-8500 is the clear winner.

Hi there. My name is Sheldon and I am looking for a chair to help manage pain. I was badly hurt in Afghanistan and have since suffered with pain from nerve damage. It feels like having boiling oil poured down my back. On top of the nerve pain I get severe spasms because some of my muscles don’t work. I am currently trialing the Yumee Robo which is not going well. It is nice while it runs but I need somewhere to relax for hours at a time, I need a good massage chair that doubles as a great recliner. On the Yumee the massage balls dig into my back when the chair is off. Very uncomfortable doesn’t cover it. The problem is, I am 6 foot 6 inches tall and weigh 110kg. Please recommend a chair that will help. Thanks a ton Kind regards Sheldon

Hi, Sheldon
Thanks so much for your email and, of course, for your selfless service for our country. I am sorry to hear about your pain. It sounds intense. Finding a chair that doubles as a regular recliner is not easy. Most of the newer chairs have the bigger bodies with the arm massage airbags built into the frame of the arm rests. They are not altogether conducive to doubling relaxing recliners. Combine that with your height and it becomes increasingly difficult to find one that doubles appropriately for you.
Having said that, here are some models that do double as recliners and/or can handle someone your height:
1. Human Touch HT-7450 – It does not have a foot massaging mechanism so your legs can extend out as far as they need, thus accommodating your height. It has a decent roller massage but not much in the way of airbags. The ottoman rotates under so that you can use the chair as a regular recliner.

2. Infinity Iyashi – one of the few chairs that fits a 6’6″ frame, but it is not a particularly practical chair for regular reclining. It has a fantastic low back and buttock massage, as it is the only name-brand chair that has a roller track that extends into the buttocks.

3. Infinity IT-9800 – this chair actually looks like a regular recliner and has a stated height allowance of 6’6″. Like the HT-7450, it does not have foot massagers so your legs can extend out as far as they need to in order to accommodate your taller frame. Great massage, but not a lot of airbags.

These are 3 to take a look at for now. You will find YouTube videos on our channel for the IT-9800 and the Iyashi.

Hi there: I’ve heard that the foot roller types are sometimes damaging to a persons feet since it can’t automatically adjust to a person’s foot length. Have you heard of this issue? The Sanyo Hec brand I believe still has rollers and I’ve tried it at a friends and likes it, but I’m concerned if I am to use it longer term, if I buy that kind. The Panasonic chair I recently tried didn’t do much for my feet – with the little roller balls. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
J

Thank you for your email. I have not heard of foot rollers doing any physiological damage to feet. Most, if not all, chairs that have a foot roller feature have a button on the remote to shut it off immediately while the rest of the chair continues to operate. The Sanyo chairs have been discontinued since being bought by Panasonic a couple of years ago, but there are other options I might suggest…
1. Infinity IT-8500 – has been one of our top sellers and the foot rollers are a bit more aggressive, which most folks really like.
2. Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer and Pro Cyber – both chairs have a mild foot roller that is less aggressive and, thus, less therapeutics for foot conditions like plantar fasciitis.
3. Infinity Iyashi – a more aggressive foot roller than even #1 above. It also utilizes airbags to shift your feet over the top of the rollers.
