Infinity Altera

We have recently added the Infinity Altera massage chair to our website and showrooms. Since the Infinity Iyashi was discontinued, we wanted another L-track from Infinity to fill the void. Infinity is a wonderful US company that distributes many chairs built in the top-notch Rongtai factory in China. The Iyashi, Altera, IT-8500/8500×3, and the Human Touch Novo XT are all built at Rongtai.

The Altera was built to accommodate shorter/smaller bodies. The recommended height range is 4’9″ – 6’2″. The chair feels more snug than the Iyashi did, but it is certainly more spacious, width-wise, than the Apex Ultra or uKnead Lohas. I fit in it just fine, and I am 5’9″ tall at about 185 lbs. Notice that this chair can accommodate someone who is only 4’9″ tall. That is where the chair really does fit a need in the market. Very few chairs can work for someone of that height.

Here are some other features and impressions about the Infinity Altera:

1. The remote control works a little differently than other remotes. Not that it is difficult, but it is just not as intuitive as some other chairs. It is a very simple remote and, once you get the hang of it, it is very efficient and works great.
2. Two (2) Zero  Gravity settings – simple and easy to use.
3. It has airbags that grab the ankles, like the IT-8500, which makes for a better stretch and foot massage.
4. The chair seems to be fairly quiet, which I like.
5. It leaves a smaller footprint than most chairs. Between the size of the chair and the space saving feature, it doesn’t take up a lot of room.
6. Spring-loaded ottoman extension.
7. Arm airbags that inflate sequentially, better mimicking an enhanced circulation scenario.
8. Quad Rollers.
9. 49″ roller track – hits the glutes and piriformis muscles, but does not reach down to the belly of the hamstrings.
10. Mechanical foot rollers.
11. BlueTooth connecitivity – pair your device with the chair and you can play your music over the chair’s speakers.
12. Rocking technology.
13. The chair feels quite comfortable when the rollers are not operating.

I really like this chair. We have it in both of our showrooms and the customer reaction has been very positive. It has a fairly aggressive roller massage, including in the neck, which was where the Iyashi was a bit weak. It does not have 3D rollers, so what you feel is what you get. At the time of this writing, the price of this model is $4995.
