Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today I want to show you a very simple feature of the iRobotics 7 massage chair from Luraco, and it is the seat swivel. We’re seeing more and more seat swivels in chairs. I think the Inada DreamWave was the first chair to actually have a seat swivel. That’s what the DreamWave technology is all about, it’s the moving of the seat from side to side and up and down. Well, the Infinity IT-8500 came out with a seat swivel. They call it seat swivel, instead of DreamWave, and I’m not quite sure what Luraco calls it, but I call it a seat swivel because it also moves the seat from side to side. And if you look down here, you can see how this seat is moving from side to side. Now, what’s the big deal with the seat moving from side to side?

Alan: Well, if you are in acute pain, and you have got a bad, hot low back, and you cannot move, my goodness, no therapist, no chiropractor is going to be able to ease the tightness of the low back with motion, because you’re going to be too tight to be moved. I was a chiropractor for 20 years, and when someone came in with a really hot low back, we rarely could adjust their low back, and get the bones to move, because everything was so tight. All the muscles had spasmed to protect the damaged or inflamed area. Well, these chairs, and starting with the DreamWave, and now a couple of other ones, including the Luraco, have this seat swivel, which allows for the hips and the low back of the patient, or the user, to get gentle, passive motion of the low back, it’s wonderful. Now, if we unzip this, you can look underneath and see that there is – I don’t know, it’s kind of hard to see, because it’s all black – but there’s like a little lever, if you will, or I don’t know what the correct name would be for that, but it’s got a little bit of lever that’s pulling the seat back and forth. And so, that’s how we induce the passive motion in to the low back.

Alan: So, it’s just a little motor moving the seat from side to side, and that’s it, and that, my friends, is the seat swivel of the iRobotics 7 from Luraco. I hope you found this video helpful.
