Studies have shown that for those individuals who struggle with epilepsy stress and anxiety can be contributing factors which may lead to an epileptic seizure. A recent review (published in the journal Seizure) has shown that mastering and practicing stress management techniques may have a positive outcome on the number of seizures each patient experiences. Techniques identified are deep breathing, relaxation exercises and physical exercise. More research is needed on this topic however it appears that for those who master the relaxation techniques they may be able to reduce the number of their seizures.
