As someone shopping for a massage chair, you’ve probably heard terms like Dual Max, Duo, Duo Max, or Zen Duo Dual Tech. When you hear those names, they refer to chairs with two sets of rollers.
A traditional massage chair has one set of rollers that move up and down your back—usually four rollers, or sometimes just two. A dual-mech chair, by contrast, has two sets of rollers: one at the top and one at the bottom. These are typically found on split-track or SL-track chairs, with one set of rollers working the upper body and another set working the lower body.
When you see chair names that include combinations like 2D + 3D, 2D + 4D, or 4D + 4D, it means the top rollers and bottom rollers can each have different dimensional capabilities. The rollers at the top might be 2D, 3D, or 4D, while the rollers at the bottom can also be 2D, 3D, or 4D—in any combination. So a chair labeled Dual Max 2D + 4D, for example, has two-dimensional rollers on top and four-dimensional rollers on the bottom.
This dual-roller design allows your body to receive essentially double the massage time thanks to the two independent mechanisms working at once.
