The National Park Service maintenance backlog is estimated to be around $12 million. In an effort to increase their funding, they are trying to push a bill through the Senate called the National Park Service Centennial Act. The House passed its version of the act earlier this week, but the energy bill to which the bill was attached died in the Senate due to differences. It could be resurrected, but we will not know until next year. The act would increase a senior lifetime park membership to $80 and would lay down rules for using funds for park projects.
