A recent study sought to compare established treatments for lower back pain with new ones like yoga. Chronic back pain is a common and serious problem with about 10% of US adults reporting this condition. The study found that yoga was not inferior to physical therapy for treating lower back pain, but that education regarding the condition was the best treatment. However, the study was limited in that many of those receiving physical therapy did not return for follow-up in the study.
