Back pain is far from uncommon. But a lot of people seeking relief by seeing an orthopaedic specialist find it’s not a back problem at all. A joint called the sacroiliac joint connects the pelvis to the lowest part of the spine. The purpose of the joint is to serve as a shock absorber. However if the joint is injured or degenerates a patient may have pain that feels like disc or back pain. If diagnosed as such, an anti-inflammatory injection every few months may solve the pain.
