Some Additional Insights on the ZeroG 4.0

A little over a year ago, I wrote a review of the ZeroG 4.0 massage chair from Human Touch’s new Immersion Seating line. We had just received the chair in our showroom and my review was based on the information gleaned over that short period of time. Now that I’ve had the chair for this long, I have a few thoughts and insights to share about it which may help you to decide if this chair is right for you.

1. Size of the chair
Tiny vs. BigThe chair is a tiny chair in comparison to the behemoths that have started coming over from China, since the advent of the Inada Sogno design. That chair changed the way the chairs were designed in China and now pretty much every chair that comes over to the USA leaves a pretty big footprint in your home.

The ZeroG 4.0 is conveniently smaller and will fit in most homes, apartments, and/or businesses. The space-saving feature, of which I spoke in the first review, complements the size of the chair by allowing the user to put the chair as close as 5″ to the wall. Between the space-saving feature and the smaller size of the chair, it will not be an imposing piece of furniture in any room. In the picture to the left, you can see the size of the ZeroG 4.0 (on the right) relative to the bigger, more imposing iRobotics 6S chair.

2. Aesthetics

As more and more people are getting into the massage chair marketplace, more and more folks are calling me about finding a chair that has massage functions but doesn’t look like a  regular massage chair. Fitting in with existing decorum is becoming a bigger deal as we see more people looking into getting a massage chair. The ZeroG 4.0 does not look like a massage chair AT ALL. It just has the look of a small, odd recliner. It shouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb once you have it situated in your room and once your friends and family start coming over for a visit.

3. User size
As I mentioned in #1 above, the chair is a smaller chair in comparison to other more typical massage chairs. Along with that smaller size comes the user height restriction. I have found that people over 6′ tall may not find the chair a suitable fit. Human Touch’s own literatures states a height restriction of 6’2″ , but I have found that to not always be the case. A longer torso may find the reach of the neck massage lacking a bit. It is a superb chair for the under 6′ crowd.

4. Remote control
Most chairs nowadays have a 1-button start on the remote control that will a.) recline the chair to a default beginning position and b.) begin an auto program that employs most, if not all, the massage functions of that chair. The ZeroG 4.0 requires the user to press a number of buttons to deploy all the features that can be initiated with only one button on the other chairs. For example, you will need to push one button to put the chair in the zero gravity position, another button to start the main roller program, yet another to begin the ottoman massage and foot vibration. It seems a bit cumbersome, but is not such a big deal that it will discourage a user from getting the chair. To date, I’ve never heard anyone say “I don’t want to get that chair because of the remote control.”

In defense of the remote control I will say that the Body Map PRO is a fantastic user-friendly feature that allows you to have a specific area of you spine massaged with the push of one button on the remote. Pretty much every other massage chair requires the user to push a number of buttons on the remote for any localized, manual programming.

5. Roller intensity
If you like a vigorous roller massage, you will really enjoy the ZeroG 4.0. It has a vigorous default roller massage that can be increased or decreased in intensity with 3D roller technology. The cool thing about the 3D roller intensity, and I’ve not seen this on any other massage chair, is that the chair has separate intensity settings for the upper back and the lower back. Great idea! If you want a more intense massage in the neck, but less intense in the low back, you can adjust that accordingly from the remote control.

Well, there you have it…some additional thoughts about the ZeroG 4.0 chair from Human Touch. I really like this chair. It offers a vigorous roller massage with awesome paddle foot and calf massage in a small package that will fit anywhere. I think you’ll feel the same once you experience it yourself.
