We all know that not getting enough sleep can make us cranky, groggy, and overall in a bad mood, but did you know that what time you hit the hay has something to do with it too? A recent study found that people who go to bed very late often have more negative thoughts than those with more regular sleeping hours.
These same thoughts are common for people with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and social anxiety disorder, all of whom also tend to have sleep problems. Overall, the study gauged negative thinking, and found that students who went to bed later experienced more repetitive negative thoughts than the others.
Conclusively, the researches stated that making sure that sleep is obtained during the right time of day may be an inexpensive and easy intervention for people bothered by intrusive thoughts. Now if we can only find a way to be able to fall asleep earlier!
