How Sleep Causes Back Pain

We all know that sleep is an essential part of our health routine, but did you also know that it can contribute to back pain? The mattress or position you sleep in may not be the only thing that’s causing it either, in fact, sleep deprivation causes various physciologic and behavioral changes in the body.

The National Sleep Foundation reports that the majority of patients who suffer from chronic pain also suffer from sleep disturbances. On the flip side, chronic pain may be the cause of the disturbance that leads to sleep fragmentation and a lack of restorative sleep.
