Although people across the world are living longer, they are spending more time in ill health as a result of nonfatal diseases and injuries. Some of these causes include diabetes and hearing loss, according to a new study of 301 diseases and injuries in 188 countries. In 2013, low back pain and major depressive disorder were among the 10 leading causes of years lived with disability, and the number is set to increase in the coming years.
