A study by the Agency of Health and Care Research has revealed findings that the most effective treatments for chronic lower back pain can only be used for a short time and vice versa. Dr. Michael White of the UCONN School of Pharmacy points out that the study revealed that opioids have the strongest effect but have high abuse risks and the body eventually builds a tolerance against them. Ibuprofen and topical treatments provide moderate relief, with Tylenol showing no effect against the pain. Finally, topical treatments and movement-based therapy, were clearly shown to be effective when used together.
