Foot and Calf Chair Measurements

Calf & Feet Airbags

Calf & Feet Airbags

Earlier this year I wrote an article about fitting into massage chairs. I was responding to increasing number of folks asking about whether their larger body frames would fit into these newer chairs that have hip and shoulder airbags. I listed the measurements of the distance between the airbags to help people know if a particular chair would fit them or not.

Some people have broad shoulders or larger upper bodies that will not fit between the shoulder airbag housings of a chair. Others have larger bottoms that will not fit comfortably between the hip/thigh airbags. If this information interests you, you can read that article here

I recently received an email from a fellow who confessed that he has very large calves. He wanted me to write down the measurements of the calf and foot wells in each of the massage chairs in my showroom so that he could find out if any of the chairs would fit his calves and feet.

Yesterday, I went to the showroom with the specific intent of measuring the length, width, and depth of each calf and foot well (when applicable). Here are the results of those measurements.

Model Calf Foot
L x W x D (inches) L x W x D (inches)
Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber 10 x 4.5 x 6.5 11.5 x 4.5 x 4
Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer 10 x 5 x 6.5 11 x 4.5 x 4
Osaki OS-4000T 10 x 5.25 x 6.5 11 x 4.5 x 4
Panasonic MA70 8 x 5 x 6 8 x 3.75 x 4
Panasonic EP30007 12 x 5.5 x 7 10 x 5 x 4.5
Infinity IT-8500 9.5 x 5.75 x 8 12 x 4.5 x 4.5
Infinity Iyashi 9 x 5 x 6 12 x 5 x 6
iRobotics i6SL 10 x 6.25 x 8 12 x 4 x 5
Human Touch HT-7450 12 x 6 x 6
Inada Yume 12 x 6 x 7
Inada Flex 9 x 4.5 x 8 10 x 3.5 x 4.5
Inada DreamWave 9 x 4.5 x 7 12 x 4.5 x 5

The iRobotics i6SL had the widest calf well. The HT-7450 and the Inada Yume had the next widest calf wells. It should be noted that all these measurements were made when the chair was turned off and the airbags or paddles were not deployed. Once these are actually operating some chairs will be narrower than others, depending on the extent of the airbag inflation. But, at the very least, this chart gives a relative comparison that will serve some value to those concerned about fitting properly.

I hope this list makes sense. If you have any questions or comments about this chart and data, feel free to leave comments at the bottom of this article.
