Exercise professionals are used to seeing a wide variety of sports related injuries, but recently they have started seeing a new type of repetitive stress related injury. They are calling it "tech neck". Tech neck is caused by having poor posture while using technology and sport devices. Kimberly Fielding, an exercise instructor in New York has created a new exercise class that focuses on teaching techniques to minimize neck strain and exercises to help alleviate pain caused by tech neck.
- People are spending more and more time on their devices, causing different aches and pains then ever before.
- To help avoid tech neck try holding the phone or other device at eye level.
- Make sure people take tech breaks, stretch, close one's eyes, and add movement to one's day.
"Muscle strain linked to hand-held technology has become such a common condition that it now has a name: tech neck."
