Doctors More Cautious When Prescribing Painkillers

A new study shows that U.S. emergency room doctors are more cautious when prescribing narcotic painkillers that carry a high risk of abuse. The report analyzed data collected from more than 27,000 patients across the U.S. in one week and found that 12% had been prescribed narcotic painkillers. These include drugs such as Oxycontin, and Vicodin, which can become highly addictive if used improperly. That number is down from previous years, and it's due to the caution of these doctors.
