Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we’re going to talk about the shoulder airbags of the Inada Flex 3s massage chair. You can see that they’re deployed already here. These shoulder airbags are used differently than other chairs are, they are designed to inflate on to the body, on to the shoulders of the user. Now, with the Flex 3s, you can move the shoulder airbags up or down, to accommodate a taller, or a shorter frame, and then these airbags will inflate and deflate, right now they’re deflating, but they inflate or deflate down on to the shoulders of the user. Now, what that does is that it enhances – it’s used in two ways, number one is to work on the posture, to correct the posture, by bringing the shoulders back – and most people have this presentation of a slumping, you know, of slumping shoulders. Now it’s inflated, I just want to quickly go back here and see how it’s inflating now, now it’s inflating, imagine that your body’s there.

Alan: There’s also airbags in the waist, and rollers that go up and down, while the – see, now you can see the airbags inflating on the side, and in the waist – and the airbags in the shoulders are inflating, and it’s pushing the shoulders back out again. So, what’s happening is when you’re sitting in the chair, the airbags are pulling the shoulders back, and then airbags in the waist and in the upper back are pushing you forward, to reverse that slumping-shoulder posture. Now, the other thing that these airbags do is when you’re in a stretch program – and in this chair, you have both extension stretching, and flexion stretching, but what they do is they pin the shoulders back, while the chair reclines, and while – and you can see it actually happening right now in this position. You can see the airbags, or the ottoman go down, and the chair back recline, and the airbags are inflated in the feet and the calves, while they’re also inflated on the shoulder, to pin the shoulder back, and hold it in place, to accentuate the stretch.

Alan: So, the shoulder airbags serve two purposes, correct posture, and enhance the stretch, and that’s a really nice feature to have. Well, there’s other chairs that have shoulder airbags, but others use airbags more to kind of pinion, pin in the shoulders, to hold the upper body in place, while the rollers go up and down. These ones actually pin the shoulders back, and work therapeutically that way, so there’s different purposes for airbags, and that’s what the Flex 3s does. Actually, Inada pioneered this with their Doctor’s Choice chair a couple years ago, and now they’ve employed this in the shoulder airbags of the Flex 3s. So, I hope you found this video helpful.
