Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we are going to talk about the foot-and-calf ottoman and massage on the ZeroG 4.0 massage chair from Human Touch. Now, the ZeroG 4.0 is the top-of-the-line model of the new Immersion Seating line from Human Touch. It’s a wonderful line, very aesthetically pleasing, a small, compact set of chairs that fit in to any decorum. One of the great features about this chair, that I love, is the ottoman. Now, I’m going to retract the ottoman, looking at the chair right away you’d think that it doesn’t have a foot and calf massage, but it does. It has a retractable ottoman that goes underneath the seat so you can hide it, in keeping with Human Touch’s desire to make aesthetically-pleasing chairs that can fit in to any kind of a home or business. Now, the ottoman is fully deployed, and what you have here – and I want to highlight a few things – I’m going to show you these things by explanation first, and then I’m going to sit in it and show you how it works on an actual foot and calf.

Alan: It has paddles on the outsides of each well, and it’s not airbags. Airbags are pretty typical in most massage chairs where it’s just airbags that compress, but what Human Touch has done, and then this is on all of their chairs, they have paddles. It’s like a rubber, soft plastic rubber mold that works in a wave-like manner that works to enhance the circulation of the blood and the lymph from the feet and calves up to the heart. It’s a magnificent feel, if you’ve never felt it before, you’ll love it. It’s not like airbags, it’s very different. They also have the paddles on the foot and on the calves, and on the bottom, they have little nodules that stick up in to the soles of the feet, and it feels like foot rollers. They don’t highlight the actual term of a ‘foot roller’ on their literature, but it feels exactly like a rolling mechanism.

Alan: It may not be rolling, it may be a sliding mechanism, I’m not sure, but it feels like you’ve got a foot roller on the soles of your feet. Of course, foot rollers have become all the rage in the massage chairs now. A lot of newer models are boasting foot massage, foot rollers, mechanical foot rollers, and I’ve got to tell you, this chair seems to have it. This one also has, at the very top here, an adjustment feature to increase or decrease the intensity of the foot-and-calf massage. If there’s one thing I learned right off the bat when I had my first massage chair in my clinic was that people are very sensitive in the feet and calves, and if they don’t like the calf massage and you cannot adjust it, they will never use it, it can be very, very tender to people. So, it’s nice to have the adjustment of the intensity of the calf-and-foot massage with this chair. OK, so I’m going to go sit in the chair now, and we’re going to put on the foot-and-calf massage so you can see how it actually works with some feet in there. Now, on the remote control, you have a section down here on the bottom left for the foot massage.

Alan: There’s three different programs and we’ll turn on the first one. You see the little red light next to that program that’s on, and you’ll see the calves actually, you’ll see the paddles now working in a wave-like manner on my feet and on my calves. It’s very comfortable, and while that’s going on, I can also feel the rollers underneath my feet. It’s just an extremely comfortable and therapeutic massage, it’s just wonderful. You’ll love the foot-and-calf massage of any Human Touch chair. Now, and this applies to all massage chairs, but you want to make sure that you slide your feet all the way in to the ottoman so that you’re getting the full benefit of every paddle – and on any other chair – of any airbag that they may be using. Of course, you want to push down if you want to get a more intense sole massage from the foot rollers on the bottom. Now, if we go back to the remote control, you just push this button right here, and now it’ll move to the second program, which is a more slow, deliberate massage of my feet and calves.

Alan: Then, there’s a third program, and when you push that, you’ll see it’s more of a staccato. It’s kind of little segments of squeezing up and down the calves and the feet, and it’s a wonderful massage. You also have ‘Foot Vibration’ that you can turn on, which I just turned on, and that feels great too. Some people don’t like vibration on any part of their body, I really like it on the feet on this chair, it’s very, very comfortable, and you really feel like your feet are getting a good workout. That is the foot-and-calf massage of the Human Touch chair, of the ZeroG 4.0. So, what I’m going to do now is I’m going to turn this thing off. You can turn off the power on the side of the remote here, or you can just push through this until the lights all come off. So, it’ll go through three different segments and the fourth segment is off, or you can turn it off on the side.

Alan: Then, what you can do is pull your legs out, retract the ottoman and bring it back to underneath the chair and you’re back to having a normal-looking chair again, without any sign that you ever had funky-looking calf-and-foot wells staring up at you. Then, of course, put the remote back in to the pocket on the side. That is how the foot-and-calf ottoman works on the ZeroG 4.0 massage chair from Human Touch.
