Have you ever heard of ‘dry needling’ as a treatment for neck pain? Dry needling or Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS) is a treatment process by which a needle devoid of any medication or injection is inserted into an irritable hard knot, also known as a trigger point, that exists within a muscle. This is supposed to relieve the neck pain by releasing tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back muscles. A journal reported that this process is more effective and recommended in decreasing neck pain immediately after treatment and at 4 weeks post treatment.
