A recent study from Concordia University in Montreal concluded that biking to work reduces stress levels. Because of this, a person starts the day off less stressed and tends to have better work performances as the day goes on. The study was based off of people that bike to work versus those who take public transportation or drive themselves. Their mood and various other factors were taking into account 45 minutes after arriving to work. Reducing stress, improving work life, saving money and going green are all reasons that might make biking to work the answer to a lot of our transportation problems.
- Concordia University, of Montreal, developed a study to compare modes of commuting.
- The Internet study gathered data from 123 employees, working at a tech firm.
- The survey asked takers to consider their mood, as well as the stress and type of their commute, within forty-five minutes of arriving at the job.
“They found that pedaling to work reduces stress levels at the start of the work day, which can have a significant effect on stress and work performance throughout the day.”
