Poor posture can be caused by many lifestyle choices. People who work a desk job are the most risk of having poor posture as it can affect a person's core and hips. It can also lead to pain in the shoulders, neck and back. Office workers are also at risk for Upper and Lower-Crossed Syndrome which occurs when the head and neck extends forward resulting in a hunchback position or the pelvic area is tilted forward resulting in the belly area pushed out, respectfully.
Lower-Crossed Syndrome can lead to tight hamstrings, lower back and knee pain while Upper-Crossed Syndrome can lead to shoulder and neck pain and stiffness and headaches. There are several exercises a person can do to alleviate the effects of these syndromes. For example, crab walks are beneficial to help with Lower-Crossed Syndrome while chin tucks can help with Upper-Crossed Syndrome.
