An online version of a local newspaper has an opinion piece from a chiropractor. He feels that primary care providers just prescribe painkillers to back pain patients. This does not treat the cause of the problem. He complains that insurance does not cover chiropractors. The chiropractor feels the patients should see chiropractors and/or physical therapists before going to surgeons. He writes that the patient should see surgeons only after he or she has seen the former.
