Clinical treatments for sciatica are few. Pregabalin (Lyrica) is a neoropathic pain medicine and one of the few approved for sciatica treatment. No robust evidence for its effectiveness, despite once being thought to be useful. A rise in precription shows no link between usage and lasting treatment.
A double blind study by the The George Institute for Global Health, Sydney Medical School, The University of Sydney called PRECISE,between a Pregabalin group and a placebo group. The study concluded there were more adverse affects in the pregabalin groun than the placebo group.
