One workout can help give relief from back pain – Reading Eagle

Regular yoga classes can help alleviate back pain, according to one reporter’s experience with the ancient practice. A study by the Annals of Internal Medicine states that yoga can be just as effective as physical therapy to help ease back pain. Of the 320 participants followed in the study, those that attend weekly yoga classes for several weeks experienced relief – as much as the group that only received physical therapy – but also an increased feeling of well being. Yoga consists of stretching and holding precise poses for short periods of time which helps loosen muscles and increase flexibility.
