And now for something completely different…
No one was hurt from this experience, so I feel OK talking and laughing about it here. But, I found this story from 2007 about 68,000 massage chairs being recalled because two of them caught on fire! Bummer for a manufacturer. I have not heard of this happening before, but I guess there is always a first.ย I remember driving down the street when I was an 18 year old in my 1967 Mustang, when suddenly flames started roaring up from under the dashboard. It scared the beejeebies out of me and I pulled over to the side of the street and frantically worked to put out the flames. Well, I couldn’t help but imagine sitting comfortably in a massage chair watching my Edmonton Oilers go down in flames playing against the Calgary Flames, when suddenly I see flames coming up on either side of the armrests in the middle of my family room. Nightmarish, really.ย Well, here is the story synopsis…
Massage chairs in the hot seat
January 31, 2007 03:33pm
JAPANESE electronics giant Matsushita is recalling more than 68,000 massage chairs after two reports that they caught fire.
Matsushita, best known for the Panasonic brand, will recall 68,762 massage chairs produced in Japan and sold under the National brand since June 2005, a company spokesman said.
The company heard of two cases in which the chairs caught on fire after the power wire for the internal motor burnt out, he said.
The chairs, produced by Matsushita Electric Works Ltd, were partly damaged but there were no injuries, he said.
There will be a hot time in the old town tonight! Have a great weekend.
