Here is the latest scuttlebutt in the massage chair industry.

Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update 07/30/12”

Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today is our July 30th version of the massage chair industry update, including updates at Massage-Chair-Relief store, online and offline. The first thing that we’ll talk about today, as we almost always do, is stock. We have all of the Inada chairs in stock, including the Inada Sogno, all colors.

Alan: Human Touch has back orders on the WholeBody 2.0.

[SCREEN TEXT: Espresso HT-5040 Only Color Left]

Alan: And they’re also reminding me that the HT-5040 has been discontinued, and the only color they have left is ‘Espresso,’ and when those chairs are gone – they only have a handful left, about 35 left – when those are gone, then the HT-5040 is gone, and not to be seen again. The Osaki OS-7000 is actually in stock on all colors, and I’m saying this with the understanding that the ‘Ivory’ and ‘Taupe’ are supposed to be in today or tomorrow, and then they will be in stock on all colors for the OS, for all of the Osaki chairs.

Alan: I also forgot to mention that the PC-086, the PerfectChair 086, which is also called the Serenity in Human Touch’s inventory, that chair is also back ordered, FYI. Now, we had some new chairs brought in to our showroom this last week.

[SCREEN TEXT: IT-8200 & IT-9800 Now In Our Showroom]

Alan: I had mentioned, and made some brief introductory videos to the IT-8200 and the IT-9800, which are two chair models that are kind of the flagship chairs – actually, the IT-9800 is the flagship chair for Infinite Therapeutics from the Infinity 5-Star Comfort line of massage chairs – but they also have the new IT-8200, which has become a fairly popular seller. Well, we purchased both of them and had them delivered to our showroom last Wednesday, and I’ve had a chance to kind of sit and enjoy the both of them a little bit more than I have in the past. I’d only sat on them a couple of times before. Well, the IT-8200’s a nice chair, that foot roller is a very cool feature; I really, really like that, and I think you, if you are a foot and calf kind of person, you’re going to love the foot massage on the IT-8200. The massage is a fairly intense massage, not very soft, but not really hard, it’s a nice, firm massage. The remote control is a pretty cool remote, it’s a different one than we’re accustomed to seeing, it’s a touch-screen-type remote, and it’s a pedestal remote. I didn’t get a user manual with the chairs, I bought them from the national sales manager, Kirk Jennings, or through him, and he’s going to be providing me with the owner’s manual in the next little while. But I’m just kind of playing around with the chair, getting accustomed to it, getting used to the automatic programs, I still haven’t figured out how to use the manual settings on it, it’s not abundantly clear on the remote, where those are, and if they’re there at all. There are some kind of semi-automatic programs, which focus on particular areas of the body, and maybe that is what their manual setting is all about. But anyway, just to let you know that those chairs are in our showroom, and I will be doing some videos on those very shortly.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Osaki OS-7000 Videos On The Way!]

Alan: We just completed another six or seven videos on the Osaki OS-7000, including the ‘Stretch’ program, including the airbags, including the remote control, and we will be posting those over the next number of weeks, so stay tuned for those as well. And after that then we will be focusing on the Infinite Therapeutics chairs. But anyway, so far we really like those chairs, and they seem to have nice features and very well built. I kind of have a feeling – and I don’t, and I have nothing else to justify this with, except the fact that I sit in these chairs, and I come to know them quite well – but I get the feeling that these Chinese chairs are starting to get a little bit better.

[SCREEN TEXT: Are Chinese-Made Chairs Getting Better??]

Alan: I think they, originally they were, they broke down a lot and there was a lot of a technical issues with them, and there still are on the Chinese, relative to the Japanese, and the Inada chairs. But I do sense, like in the IT-8200, which is a brand new model, I sense that it’s a better built chair, a little, a more solid, a little, a better feel than what we’re accustomed to in the past with Chinese chairs. So, I’m hoping that the Chinese chairs will be better, that the failure rate will be a lot less, and that they’ll be able to offer a better long term solution for a massage chair without problems, but that’s just a feeling I have, we’ll kind of see how that plays out over the years ahead.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Human Touch Promotion August 1 – September 10, 2012]

Alan: Human Touch has a new promotion coming up starting August 1st, and hopefully we’ll have this up on our website in the next couple days, but if you purchase the ZeroG 2.0, which is one of their new chairs from their line of Immersion Seating chairs, you will get the HT-1355 foot and calf massager, which will be given to you as a gift from Human Touch when you purchase that chair.

[SCREEN TEXT: More Massage Chair Interviews Coming]

Alan: I am also working on other interviews with heads of the massage chair companies, and I’m telling you – and this is just between you, me, and the fence post, and whoever else reads, or watches this video – but my goodness, it is hard to get these guys to get on screen to do an interview. Cliff Levin did an interview with me no problem, but I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting other guys to participate, and from what I hear, a lot of them are just gun-shy about doing a video, webcam interview. Well, I kind of keep pushing these guys and pressuring them, and hopefully we’ll be having some interviews in the next week or two. I’m setting one up with one of the higher-ups at Infinite Therapeutics. I’m also working on one with the national sales manager for Osaki, and also working on one for Omega. I’ve been trying to get Human Touch to participate, I’ve had trouble getting them to play ball with me, and I get it, I get it’s a little embarrassing, I remember when I first started doing these videos, it was a little embarrassing, and a little awkward and odd. But you know what, these interviews with the presidents are phenomenal – or these higher-ups from these companies – are phenomenal, because then you get a real feel for these products. I’d love to interview Human Touch about their new Immersion Seating; I’d love to interview Omega about their new Montage Pro, which has become a popular chair; I’d love to interview Osaki for their Osaki 7000 and 6000, which have become very popular, especially the 7000, and I’d love to interview Infinite Therapeutics about their new IT-8200, which has also become a popular chair. So, hopefully more of those to come, I don’t think of myself as an intimidating fellow, and I don’t ask questions that are too hard, basically just want to know more about these chairs, so hopefully we’ll see more of those interviews in the future.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Dark Brown Color for Osaki 7000]

Alan: Oh, Osaki, by the way, has a new color for their 7000, it’s a dark brown. I may have mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but I can’t remember if I did, but the Osaki 7000 has a dark brown color now. So, that’s four colors for that chair, and it’s a very popular chair. It’s a very aggressive chair, people that like a deep tissue massage, buy this thing, and this new color is, it’s a nice color, so anyway, just so that you know. I think that’s probably about it for this week, not a lot of information for this week. Remember that the Sanyo 7700 has been discontinued; remember that the HT-3300 has been discontinued; remember that the HT-5040 has been discontinued, even though there’s still some stock of that. But I believe the Sanyo 7700 is, I think there’s still possible opportunities to get one or two chairs, but that’s about it, they are pretty much out, and that’s a done deal, and we’ll be taking that off of our website in the next week as well. But if you have any questions, feel free to give me a call at 801-651-2026, that’s my cell number. You can call me also on our toll-free number, 888-259-5380.
