Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – January 2, 2013”
Alan: Well, good morning, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update. It just happens to be January 2nd, 2014, our inaugural massage chair industry update for 2014, and I hope you had a great holiday season, and a great New Year’s. We had a wonderful time with our family, and of course, the holidays, and Christmas, and New Year’s is a wonderful time to get together with family, we had a good time.

Alan: We actually had a little family get-together at the showroom on New Year’s Eve, and had all the kids and the grandkids there, and I actually got a picture of one of my youngest grand – or my youngest granddaughter on a massage chair, she was sitting on a – I think it was on a Panasonic. It was one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen, I took a picture of it, I don’t know if I can integrate a picture in to this, but I’ll give it a try. The whole family came, we had a wonderful time at the showroom for New Year’s Eve, and you know, I love 2014, I mean, I love the beginning of a new year, like we are now with 2014. It’s an opportunity to kind of reevaluate and access the year that was, and see what can be done better in my life, and my business life, and my family’s lives, so we will, you know, we will look forward to a wonderful year in 2014. I wrote a blog post yesterday about, or two days ago, about 2014, and you know, the great plans we have at Massage-Chair-Relief for this year, and I’ll share these things with you as they come to pass, and come to be, but we’re very excited about 2014, and the things that we’ve got going on. Our objective in 2014 is to increase the awareness of the US market to massage chairs, and increase the awareness of the benefits of the massage chairs. So anyway, enough of that. Well, Happy New Year, I hope you had a great holiday, and I look forward to seeing you this year on these updates, as well as on massage chair review videos, as well.

Alan: As far as stock goes, the only company that I am aware of that has some stock deficiencies right now is Osaki. The following colors and models I’m going to read to you are out of stock until mid January to late January, and they include the ‘Brown’ OS-4000, the ‘Black,’ ‘Brown,’ and ‘Creme’ OS-7200H, the ‘Creme’ 7075R, the ‘Brown’ and ‘Creme’ 7200CR, all of the colors of the Cyber, and the ‘Brown’ OS-3D Pro Dreamer. Those are all on back-order, and all due in January, the middle to end of January. I also might add that Infinity’s ‘Black’ Iyashi chair is also back-ordered until the end of January, beginning of February, but that is the stock situation.

Alan: I think Inada’s good, Panasonic’s good, Human Touch, Omega, Cozzia, I think they’re all good, Luraco, they’re all good with their stock right now, so anything that you need, you know, go for it, and you’ll have stock now that the rush for the fourth quarter is done, for the most part. January’s typically a busy month, though, in our industry, so I suspect there will be a number of sales this month, but you know, call now for any additional specials to what we have on our website, and you know, we’re always willing to visit with you, and chit chat about what’s going on in the store, what’s going on with sale prices, and what’s going on in the industry, so call anytime.
If you do own a massage chair, and you’re watching this video, I would invite you to – and it’s a message chair that we have on our website, whether you bought it from us or not – we would invite you to write a review about it. I’m really big on these reviews. I feel they’re crucial to consumers that are looking to buy, so that they know that the chair that they’re getting is a good chair, is the right chair for them, that Massage Chair Relief is the right retailer for them, and so we want you to feel comfortable with who you’re buying from, and what chair you’re buying. So, these reviews are critical in that decision-making process. You can do all the research you want. If you cannot sit on a chair, one of the next-best things you can do is read a review of someone who has experienced it, and has their own, you know, objective opinion about that chair, as opposed to mine, which is, you know, maybe not – I may not as sensitive to some of the things that an individual user would be, because I sit on so many chairs each day, and discuss so many chairs each day – sometimes I might not be as sensitive to any particular model as an individual user would be. So, if you have a review, or if you have a chair, a massage chair, and it’s a chair that we carry on our site, just go to the product page of that chair, go to the ‘Reviews’ section, type in your review, and submit it. I really appreciate those reviews, and we would love to have that for visitors.
[SCREEN TEXT: Massage Chair Infographics]
Alan: I have started posting infographics on our blog. Infographics are a one-page graphic that has bullet points about the massage chair that’s being discussed. So, so far, we’ve put up an infographic on our blog about the Infinity Iyashi and one about the Inada Sogno, two of our top selling chairs. These are the kinds of things that you can just kind of, at a glance, get what features the chair has, and get an idea of what kind of a chair you’re considering. It’s also a graphic that you can take the code of it – at the bottom of every infographic, there’s some code – and you can copy and paste that code anywhere you want, on a blog, on another website, I suspect you could probably even post it on Facebook, or something like that, if you’d like to share that infographic with your friends and family. But FYI, we have these infographics, they’ll be coming out every couple of weeks, we’ll be coming out every couple of weeks with a new one, and for your study, for your perusal, and for your sharing as well.
I wrote a blog post, well, one of the things – I’m getting more and more email questions from shoppers, massage chair shoppers, and I love it because the shoppers, you, the consumer, will think about things much more than I will, because your particular situation, or your body morphology, or your complaints, or your health is completely unique to someone else, versus someone else – and so when you ask questions to me, there are things that I would’ve never thought about. We had a question from a fellow that, he had been a truck driver for 17 years, I think it was 17 years, and his spine had taken a beating to the point where he was in constant pain, nothing worked for the guy. A little bit of spinal decompression seemed to help, he had an awesome attitude, but he wanted to know – he was 52 years old, he’d been a long-haul truck driver for all those years, he’d had all these problems – what chair would work for him, well, I don’t, I would never have thought of that, I don’t have that history that he had. So, his vantage point is fantastic, and so I tried to offer suggestions based on his history, based on his physiological presentation, via the email, and then I try to share that with him, and then, you know, of course, I like to share that with the rest of you.

Alan: Well anyway, I get questions all the time from different users, or different customers, and consumers, about which chair is right, which feature is right, what they should be watching out for, which chair has these features for these complaints that I have, and I try to answer them as best I can. Some of them are a little longer than others, but I put them in the ‘Mail Bag.’ I think I’ll probably be doing a ‘Mail Bag’ once a week now because the questions and the emails have become quite frequent, and I guess with my position in the industry, and my expertise as a chiropractor, I get a lot of questions and I love it, believe me, I love it.

Alan: Anyway, oh, where I was going with that was, I posted an article, like someone asked me ‘What’s the difference between a Sogno and an Iyashi?‘ Well, Sogno as you may or may not know if you’ve been following me for some time, is widely considered the world’s best massage chair. I consider it, probably the – well, it’s the best chair as far as quality of workmanship, the company that makes it, and the reputation of the company that makes it, the feature set, the innovations of that chair, the way that chair changed the whole industry when it came out five years ago – I love the Inada Sogno, and I often will use that as a benchmark to compare other chairs to. Well, the Iyashi’s come out, and it’s been a very, very popular seller, that 49-inch roller track down to the butt is second to none. We’ve not seen that on another chair out in the market right now that – it kind of was the, it was the pioneer, I mean, there’s other chair’s coming out now with rollers in the butt, but that was like the pioneer that started it all – and Infinity’s a great company, they take good care of our customers. Well, I got asked what’s the difference between the Sogno and Iyashi, so in that email I responded with some of the differences, you can take a look at that blog post, it was on December 19th in our article gallery, and you can take a look at that, and see what the differences are, but those are two very popular chairs.

Alan: I might mention our number one seller is the IT-8500 from Infinity, our number two seller is the Inada Sogno, our number three seller is the Iyashi, and our number four, four/five seller is the Osaki Cyber and Dreamer. So, that will give you an idea of what chairs are most popular, and they’re most popular for a reason, because they do offer good features, are good quality chairs, respective or irrespective of price, those are the chairs that people are buying, so anyway, and I’ve written plenty about those chairs in my article gallery, through my blog posts.

Alan: So, feel free to go read anything you want, and did you know that you can go on my website, and if you scroll down on the homepage, past the fold, you’ll see an area where there’s a search bar, and the heading is ‘Search Massage-Chair-Relief.com.’ You can go in there and type in any topic, any chair model, a comparison of models, and if I’ve done it, it’ll pop up, and I’ve written close to 700 articles on that blog post, or I mean, in that article gallery, in the form of blog posts. So, feel free to go there, and type in any topic you want to study, and then watch the, or read the articles, and if I’ve got videos, go to our YouTube channel, we’ve got about 190 videos at the time of this recording, plenty of videos about various chairs, about these massage chair industry updates, all kinds of information, so go and utilize the resource for what it is, which is a resource for you to learn, and help make the best decision regarding what chair is best for you.
I do believe that is about it for these two weeks, it’s 2014, a brand new year, the rush of the last quarter is past. As I had predicted, new models would be coming out in that fourth quarter, and sure enough, a whole bunch of models came out. I suspect there will be some new models, the first half of the year, but not a lot, but I suspect again in the second half of the year, as we get closer to the fourth quarter of 2014, more models will come out again. From rumblings I’ve heard, and from some of the inside chatter, I’m expecting to see a couple of new models come out in the fairly near future, and some of them, I think, are going to be exciting models, and I’m going to be excited to talk about them, but I can’t talk about them just yet. I don’t really have the go ahead to do that, but some other things will be coming, so stay tuned to our massage chair industry update, and as I hear more about it, I will let you know.
