Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – February 12, 2014”
Alan: Well, hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update. Today it’s for February the 12th, 2014, and get right in to stock with you.
[SCREEN TEXT: Stock Status]
Alan: As you know, the Johnson chairs have been discontinued from online sales. We still have the Johnson J6800 in our showroom, and I am selling that model for – we’re selling that one for $3499 – it retails for $4999.
[SCREEN TEXT: Johnson J6800 Floor Model For Sale – $3499]
Alan: It’s only a couple of months old, but since I can’t carry it on my website – they do say I can, of course, still have it in my showroom – but nobody really knows that I’ve got it if they can’t see it on my website, so we feel that right now the prudent choice would be just to sell that floor model. So, if you’re interested in the J6800 Johnson Wellness chair, made in Taiwan, three-year parts-and-labor, in-home warranty, ‘Black’ color, great chair, good massage, very nice chair, give me a call. Anyway, the Johnsons are gone, and as near as I could tell from the other updates, from the other companies, stock seems to be available for all the chairs right now. Osaki just had a recent shipment of 4000s, and I believe the Cyber is supposed to come in today or tomorrow, but it looks like everything else seems to be in pretty good supply. Oh, the IT-9800 from Infinity is not in much supply. I believe the ‘Butter,’ the ‘Taupe,’ and I think it’s the ‘Brown’ are all back-ordered, and they don’t have any immediate scheduled arrival times, or shipment times, for those models, or those colors, so the IT-9800 is kind of low on a lot of their colors, if not there at all. OK, I think that is – oh, well, speaking of discontinued models, I mentioned a few weeks back – over a number of weeks, that the ‘Black’ Iyashi was not being brought back in to the United States. The ‘Red’ and the ‘Caramel Brown’ are still the only interior colors of the Iyashi, even though everybody is asking about a black plastic exterior, there’s no immediate plans for that, it’s still a white exterior.
[SCREEN TEXT: Panasonic EP30005 Discontinued]
Alan: Also, I received notification from Panasonic that they’re discontinuing the 30005 massage chair, which makes sense to me, I mean, they had the 30005, 30006, and 30007. The 30006 and the 30007 were the exact same chairs, except the 30007 was manufactured in Japan, the 30006 was manufactured in China, and other than the material covering the armrests, the chair was exactly the same. Well, as soon as Panasonic moved all their manufacturing to China, it basically rendered the 30006 obsolete, so they discontinued that. Well, the 30005 and the 30007 are very, very similar chairs, same body design, essentially the same massage, same roller system, same everything. It has a few less airbags, it has, not just the less airbags, but it also has a different program, it has what they call an ‘Ultra Deep’ program on the 30005. Well, they’re going to be doing away with that altogether, and that chair will be discontinued as of this shipment. Apparently, the last shipment is coming in, but that shipment is already spoken for, all the chairs are presold, and there are none available for distribution. The way that I learned this was the hard way because I had a customer want to order one from me, and when I ready to take his order and checking stock status, I saw, I received that notification from Panasonic. So, the Panasonic 30005 will be no more in the short, the very short term, we will take that off of our website soon.
[SCREEN TEXT: New Video – How to Access Massage Chair Relief Articles]
Alan: Oh, I put up a – there’s a couple of new things that we’re doing right now, number one is – I put up a new video showing you how to access all of our article library on the website, and I put that video on YouTube. I can’t remember what I called it, I think I called it ‘The Massage Chair Relief Article Library Access,’ or something like that. In order words, how do access – like we’ve got seven, 800 articles on our website – how do you access them, what if want to find out about massage chairs and pregnancy, or warranties of massage chairs, or kids and massage chairs, or any articles about particular models that you’re interested in. Well, you can find that on the website, of course, you can go to the blog is one way, and then there’s a search field on the top right corner of the blog where you can type in whatever it is that you’re looking for. There’s also a search field on the home page, below the fold, there’s also a search field there, and you can search for any topic there. Then also, when you go to a product page, any product page on our website, there are four – underneath the ‘Add to Cart’ button, and the images – there are four tabs, and one is ‘Overview,’ one is ‘Features,’ one is ‘Articles,’ and one is ‘Specifications.’ If you click that ‘Articles’ tab, you will see all the articles that I’ve written about that massage chair. Even if it’s just mentioned, passingly, in that article, or a full-fledged review on that chair, all of that list will be there, and you can scroll down, and see all the articles we’ve written about that, or that I’ve written, and that I’ve talked about that particular chair model. So, there are three ways to access these articles, and so I hope you take advantage of that, and use that, but you can look at the video, and I show you graphically, I walk you through it on the website so you know exactly how to access those articles.
[SCREEN TEXT: New YouTube Channel Playlist – “Massage Chair Dictionary”]
Alan: Also, we’re introducing a new playlist this week called ‘Massage Chair Dictionary,’ and we began recording videos last week, I’ve got seven of them up. We’re basically going to take all the terms in the massage chair industry, terms that you may not be sure what they mean – like ‘Zero Gravity,’ or ‘3D Rollers,’ or ‘Quad Rollers,’ or whatever that means, you know, ‘Foot Rollers,’ ‘Airbags,’ whatever – and we’re going to define all those visually for you on the website, and show you on various models what those features mean. That will be up this week, and so I’m excited to have you access those videos if you need them, on our YouTube channel, to help you understand the terminology. You know, I’ve been in this industry for 10, 11 years, I’m used to these words, I know what I mean when I say ‘3D Massage,’ or ‘Zero Gravity,’ or you know, whatever, but you may not know what those words mean, and I take that for granted. So, I’m going to make those definitions available to you, and that will allow you to do a little bit more homework, and understand a little bit more of what you’re studying, but that’ll be out this week.
[SCREEN TEXT: Children & Massage Chairs]
Alan: What else can I tell you, oh, I’ve written a couple of articles in my article library, a couple of blog posts, and there’s some good topics in there. One of them is a fairly lengthy article I wrote about children and massage chairs. Now, I wrote an article about pregnancy and massage chairs, and it was quite a popular article, a lot of people wanted to know, ‘Can I sit in a massage chair when I’m pregnant?’ and some disclaimers will even say don’t sit in a chair when you’re pregnant. Well, I think most of that, that for the most part, is poo-poo, and you can sit in a chair when you’re pregnant. Well, what about kids – can kids sit in a massage chair – well, we’ve had a butt load of kids come through our showroom over the years, and they all love it. I’ve never met a kid that didn’t like sitting in a massage chair. Now, it may not be for therapeutic reasons, they like just playing with the remote, and playing with the chair, and you know, having their voice go shaky when the vibration turns on, as we all do – but what about contraindications for children – is there anything, any disease or medical condition that a child may have that would be a contraindication to sitting on a massage chair? Well, I go over the list, and I also talk about some of the research studies that validate the benefits of massage for children. So, it’s a great, I think it’s a great article, so take a look at it, it’s in my article library, or blog, and I just wrote it last week.
[SCREEN TEXT: Check out the “Mail Bag” on our Article Library / Blog]
Alan: Also, I wrote – you know, I get tons of emails, and we take, usually about three or four emails a week, and put it in a little section called ‘Mail Bag,’ and I put that on my blog as well, and last week I wrote one – I added three different emails, two of which were kind of interesting. One was a fellow that bought an Iyashi chair, an Infinity Iyashi, and he had some concerns about it, and he laid out these questions for me about the Iyashi, and I answered them, and that may be helpful for those of you who are thinking about getting an Iyashi, or those of you who own an Iyashi.
[SCREEN TEXT: Cancer and Massage Chairs]
Alan: Now, the other thing that I talked about was an email from a fellow that has cancer, and he was interested in getting a massage chair, and he explained his medical situation to me, and amongst his history was the fact that he had cancer. He was concerned, well, he wanted to know what chair was best for him having cancer. Well, as I just mentioned, there are contraindications for massage, and cancer can be one of those contraindications, and we discussed that a little bit. So, if you do have cancer, regardless – it might be cancer in the big toe, or it might be a more systemic cancer, or it might be a benign tumor on your back where the rollers go over – either way, some of them are safe, some of them are, I mean, safe as far as using a massage chair. Others, you may not want to use a massage chair, and you may want to consult with your doctor, your oncologist, whoever, but I would check on that, and make sure that you’re good to go, if you do have any kind of cancer, before you buy, and use a massage chair. Anyway, that’s a good article as well.
[SCREEN TEXT: Massage Contraindications]
Alan: By the way, at the end of that ‘Kids and Massage Chairs’ article, I make a long list of all the contraindications for massage, not just for children, but for all contraindications, and you might take a look at that. It’s not meant to scare anybody, or anything like that, but if you have any of those conditions, and you’re thinking about getting a massage chair, talk to your doctor. I mean geez, you know, for the most part, there’s not a problem, but if you’ve got like an open gash flesh wound on your back, you may not want to use a massage chair just yet, or if you’ve got ulcerous cavities on your feet, on the bottom of your feet, you may not want to use a chair with foot rollers, I’m just saying, but you know, check it out, check out the list if that interests you.
[SCREEN TEXT: Any Questions for Cliff Levin, President of Inada USA?]
Alan: OK, you know, I’ve got Cliff Levin, he emailed me yesterday, he’s the president of Inada USA, he’s coming here in March, March 13th through the 15th, and we’re going to be spending some time together. If any of you have any questions you’d like me to ask Cliff – and I always get questions, especially about the Inada Sogno, and about Inada, and what they’ve got going on in Japan, and are we going to carry that chair here, and blah, blah, blah, I get lots of questions – and I always call Cliff, or email him, just to make sure I haven’t missed out on anything. Well, he’s coming to town, we’re going to be spending some time together over those three days, and I will gladly ask him any questions that you might have about anything. So, give me a call, or drop me an email, or whatever, and let me know if you want me to ask him anything, and I will. I’ll report on that visit, of course, after he comes, and we’ll chitchat about it, and probably have a picture of him and I eating dinner or something like that, and we’ll put that on the website, or on the blog.
[SCREEN TEXT: 2-Month Old Inada Sogno: $7199]
Alan: Finally, I have an Inada Sogno, it’s only two months old. Well, it’s a month old, but I – from the time it shipped to the time I got it – it’s been about two months. The people only had it for a month, six weeks, something like that, but it’s a chair that a fellow bought for his wife for Christmas, and she didn’t want it. They sent it back to me, it’s in perfect condition, it’s still in the original packaging, or it’s been put back in the original packaging, it’s packaged and ready to go, and you know, that chair regularly sells for $7999. Well, I’ve got this used one for $7199, it’s crème colored, you know, we can transfer the warranty to you because it’s being sold from my showroom as a return model, and it’s a great chair. If you, I don’t know if you realize this, but the Sogno’s like one of the most popular – or it used to be the most popular – it’s one of our most popular chairs, I think it’s our number two popular chair, but I would recommend that you consider getting this one. It’s $7199, phenomenal chair, give me a call if you want it, I’ll give you a promo code, or I can just take your order over the phone, but we have that Inada Sogno available, crème-colored Inada Sogno, at most, two months old, but a great buy, great buy, it’s almost $800 off the regular price. Well, I think that’s just about it, eh, so you know, the Olympics are on right now. There’s no Edmonton Oiler hockey, which is my passion, and so the upside of that is I don’t have to see them lose anymore, for the next three weeks, the downside is that I don’t get to watch any Oiler hockey. We do get to watch the Olympics, and I guess the hockey started yesterday, with the women’s hockey, and today it started with the men’s hockey, and I’m really looking forward to watch the US and Canada play. I have a feeling that they’re going to be crossing paths, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens, there’s a good rivalry between them. Anyway, I hope you’re all enjoying the Olympics, and having fun with that, but thanks so much for spending time watching this video, I hope you found it helpful today. If you have any questions, or inquiries, or need any information, just give me a call at 888-259-5380, and I’ll gladly answer your questions, or chat with me on the website, or email me, or whatnot.
