There is increasing evidence that many U.S. children suffer from low back pain. This may be due to the fact that children and adolescents experience fast and complex growth spurts during this time and additionally children and adolescents are often involved in high impact traumatic sports and physical type injuries more so than other groups that were studied. Consequently, the percentage of youths experiencing low back pain jumps multiple percentage points from age seven to adolescence. All in all, many scientists suggest routine check-ups with pediatricians, including physical exams with general physicians as well.
