Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we’re going to talk about the Inada Sogno Dreamwave scan override. And what this is basically all about is, by default, when you get a neck massage on the Sogno, you get massaged by the headpiece, which they call the ‘cervical traction device.’ It has airbags that massage your neck. Well, some people like to use the rollers instead. So, in that situation, you’ve got to lift the headpiece over the back of the chair, which I’ve done. The headpiece is now back over the back of the chair, and you can see that the rollers are now exposed through the linen, which is the only, now, the only material between your neck and the rollers. Well, what happens is that some people that are taller, find that the rollers don’t go up to the base of their skull, OK, they only go to the top of the shoulders.

Alan: And after the – when the chair’s doing a scan – that’s where it, kind of, ends up, is where the shoulders are. And the reason it does that, is because you usually have the headpiece there and the rollers don’t need to go up to the base of the skull, you’ve got airbags massaging your neck. Well, now that the airbags are out of the way, and you’ve got rollers, you want those rollers to go as high as you can, and the only way you can do that is by overriding the body scan. Now, all nice chairs have a scan feature now, where it’ll scan your body height, and your shape, and your size, and then it will cater the massage to that body type. Well, there is a point in time in the Inada Sogno scan, where it says ‘Fine Tune Shoulder Position.’ Well, at that juncture, what you will do with your remote, is you will push the ‘Roller’ arrow up, and that will raise, that will override the scan, and it’ll raise the rollers up the neck to the base of the skull. And I’m going to demonstrate that to you now, so you can see, and I mean, we’re going to get the picture so that I’m showing the arrow raising with the display, and the rollers going up at the same time. So, Brock’s going to go the side, and take a shot.

Alan: First of all, let’s turn it on, it won’t function unless the light is green – the ‘Power’ light is green – and we’ll just push the ‘Morning’ program, which is just one of the many ‘Automatic’ programs that this chair has. Now, what it’s doing now, and it’ll say it on the screen, it’s doing an ‘Automatic Shiatsu Detection’ right now, and I can feel the rollers going up and down my spine. Well, actually it’s going down my spine right now, locating shiatsu points, and you’ve got to lie back when the chair’s doing the scan because it’s got to know where your shoulders and your head are. So, now it’s going up my spine, it’s locating the shiatsu points, and now when it gets to my shoulders, it’ll say, ‘Fine Tune Shoulder Position.’ Now, there it goes, it says ‘Fine Tune Shoulder Position.’ Well, it’s low, it’s at the bottom of my neck, at the top of my shoulders. I push the arrow up, and you’ll see the rollers go up to the base of my skull. Now, you see that, see how it’s at the top of my neck, at the base of my skull, and then I can roll it again down. You see now it goes back down to where it was in default, which is at the top of the shoulders.

But I don’t want it there, I’m going to override the scan, and the rollers come up, and it starts to massage right to the base of my skull. Now, if you’re a headache sufferer, those muscles are usually the tightest muscles and those are the ones that are the precipitators of headaches, for these neck-related cervicogenic headaches. So, well now, the program’s beating me up, and it feels awesome, but I’m going to turn it off. But that’s how the scan override works, if you want to have the rollers going up to the top of your neck. If you don’t override, the rollers will only work at the base of your neck, and you’ll feel like ‘Gee, this chair doesn’t massage my neck.’ It’s a great feature, not many people know about it, but now you do, and this will enhance the experience on your Inada Sogno Dreamwave massage chair.
