Transcript of Video Titled “First-Time Use – Ogawa Refresh Massage Chair”

Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today I’m going to show you how to use the Ogawa Refresh massage chair for the first time through, when you get it in the house, and you’ve assembled it. And assembly’s quite simple, it won’t take you too long. Of course, you can always order white-glove delivery if you want to get it done for you, but the assembly is not bad, once you have the help to get the chair in to the room that you want it in. But anyway, the Ogawa Refresh is – and a couple little things that I just want to mention before we turn this on, that I neglected to mention in the intro video – is that this chair does have, I’m going to the power on, and by the way, the remote’s very, very simple to use. There’s a power button up on the top left, push that power button, did you notice how the chair reclined in to a set position, ready to do the massage? But over here you’ll notice, on this little triangle – let me turn this on – you can see that it has chromotherapy, and what chromotherapy is, is a fancy way of saying that the chair has little lights that flash, and when you’re in a dark room, that light can create kind of an ambient feel that’s kind of nice. They say it’s therapeutic because there is a therapy associated with color, but I don’t know if this is going to be enough color to really have any therapeutic effect, other than to make you go ‘Ohh.’ So, anyway, it has that, and this chair also has a heating function, I didn’t mention that either. It does have the vibration in the seat, which we mentioned in the intro. But anyway, so what you’ve got now is when you turn this chair on – and by the way, I’m pushing the button to turn it back off again – but it cycles through the different colors.

Alan: So, now, once again, we turn the chair on, and it reclines to an optimal, or a beginning, position for the massage. And then you just push one of these three auto-programs, and let’s just push ‘Relax,’ and now, it’ll recline even more fully for that particular program. I like to remove the headpiece, or the pillow, so that I can feel the massage on the neck, and the chair reclines back in to a zero-gravity position, and it does the body scan. And you can feel the rollers going up and down your back, and it’s trying to figure out how tall you are, and where your shoulders are, and where you head is, so that the rollers don’t go too high or too low when the massage begins. And of course, once the chair does begin, we’ll get the airbags that’ll kick in, in the feet, and the calves, and in the waist, and the arms. And now, it’s coming up, and now it’s going to beep, as most chairs do, and when it beeps, the chair is basically saying ‘Is this where you want the shoulders to be?’ And there, you can hear it beep now, the chair is asking you ‘Is this where you want them?’, and if you don’t, then you can – if you want to adjust it – you can lower the rollers with the arrows on the remote control. You can lower the rollers to the correct height for your shoulder, and now the program’s begun, the massage starts, and this has got a very good neck massage, by the way, I’m pleasantly surprised with it. It’s got a decent overall vigor of the back. You cannot adjust the intensity of the rollers, but the intensity with which it’s set is very comfortable in the low back, and in the middle back, and it’s got a really good neck massage, in my honest opinion.

Alan: So, I rather like this chair for that, and again, for under $2000, at the time of this video recording, it’s under $2000, it’s a very good bang for your buck. You can see it’s coming up to my neck now, and it digs in pretty good. You can feel it grabbing that neck nicely, and it does a good job at the base of my skull, and on the top of my shoulders, very nice. So, what you do now, is when you’re done, if you want to end it before the program ends on its own, push the power button again, and bang, it shuts off. The chair restores up to its neutral position, the rollers park in preparation for the next user, and the next session, and you’re done, and that’s all there is to it. A lot of these chairs are very easy to get started in. This is a classic example of one that just takes very little to get going.
