Ditch Smoking to Ditch Chronic Back Pain

A recent study shows that smokers are three times more likely than nonsmokers to develop chronic back pain, but ditching the cigarette could cut their chances of developing it. This is because smoking affects the way the brain responds to back pain by making people less resilient to an episode of pain. So while a vape starter kit or medications a like anti-inflammatory drugs can help manage pain, behavioral interventions like smoking cessation programs are a much more effective strategy from chronic pain prevention and relief.
