A recent analysis of health care spending related to diseases reports that twenty conditions make up a majority of health care expenses in the United States. The top three conditions are diabetes, heart disease, and lower back and neck pain. Hypertension and injuries sustained from a fall are also among the conditions that make up for this large portion of spending. Items that were not included in this report were privately funded health care at home and medications purchased over-the-counter.
