One of our distributors is True Massage Chairs (TRU). They’re based in Georgia, and we’ve been carrying their premium chairs for about three years now. When we opened our Northern California store, we began offering True chairs. Although True is relatively new as a distributor, Christy Kim and her brother, Andrew, have been selling premium massage chairs online for years. They eventually decided to create and distribute their own product line.

These are well-built, high-quality chairs. They’re strong, durable, and originally came with a solid warranty: one year of labor and three years of parts, with shipping included in the price of the chair. When we ordered chairs from True, shipping was already covered as part of the purchase.

Recently, however, True Massage Chairs made a significant change to their business model. It’s a drastic shift, but one they felt was necessary. As I’ve discussed many times before, there are countless massage chairs sold online directly to consumers. These chairs are not available in showrooms, can’t be tried beforehand, and are often built very cheaply. However, their prices are extremely low and their marketing is very slick, which leads many people to buy them.

Most of these online chairs are priced in the $2,500 to $5,000 range, and True has found it increasingly difficult to compete with those online retailers. As a result, about a month ago, they dramatically reduced their prices.

For example, the True Eclipse Plus, one of their top-tier chairs, traditionally retailed for around $11,000. It is now being sold for $5,999. These are not cheaply made chairs from low-quality factories with poor components or high failure rates. These are premium chairs built in higher-quality factories with better quality control and longer expected lifespans.

That said, this pricing change does come with drawbacks. The biggest one is the warranty. These chairs now come with only a one-year parts warranty and no labor coverage, which is typical of many direct-to-consumer online chair companies. The key difference here is that the chair quality is significantly better than most chairs sold online at similar prices.

You’re still getting a chair that should last for years, with minimal warranty coverage, but an excellent overall value for the price.

Currently, we have three or four True models listed on our website, all heavily discounted. The True Crown, which features a split-track design, is priced at $7,999, down from a regular price of around $13,999. The Eclipse has dropped to $5,999, and the Symphony, which we have in several showrooms, is now $4,499.

True has told us they brought in a large amount of inventory—multiple containers of chairs—but due to intense online competition, they’ve had difficulty moving that inventory. This new pricing strategy is their solution.

The reason I’m sharing this is because I don’t know how long this pricing model will last. For the time being, the quality-to-price ratio on these chairs is exceptional, and it’s something worth considering if you’re shopping for a massage chair.

Now, regarding the warranty: when you purchase a True chair through Massage Chair Relief, we include two additional years of labor coverage. You won’t receive our lifetime labor warranty on these models, but you will be covered for labor for at least two years.

We’ve had the Eclipse, Symphony, and Iconic chairs in our showrooms, and we’ve experienced very few issues with them. In fact, I can recall only one chair that needed service, and it was resolved quickly.

If you’re shopping for a massage chair, working within a tighter budget, and understand that warranty support is more limited, I would strongly recommend taking a look at True Massage Chairs while these prices are available.
