Massage Chair Setup Guide: What to Expect After Delivery

warranty

If you’re planning to set up your own massage chair, here’s what you can expect.

First, your chair will typically be delivered curbside. That means you’ll need to bring it into your home yourself. The chair may arrive in one, two, or three boxes.

  • If it comes in three boxes, the largest box will contain the main chair body—which is also the heaviest and most difficult to move. The second box will usually contain the armrests, and the third box will contain the footrest or ottoman.
  • If it comes in two boxes, the main box will typically include the chair body along with the footrest, while the second box contains the armrests.
  • Some newer models now arrive in a single large box, with the chair mostly preassembled.

Regardless of the configuration, you’ll need to move all boxes into your home and into the room where you plan to set up the chair.

When you unpack the chair, you’ll notice a significant amount of packaging—Styrofoam, plastic inserts, cardboard supports, and other materials designed to protect the chair during shipping.

I strongly recommend keeping all of this packaging, at least temporarily. Store it in your garage or another safe place until you’re certain you’ll keep the chair. If you decide to return it, you’ll need those original materials to properly repack the chair for pickup. Repacking can take some time, so having everything on hand will make the process much easier.

For assembly, start by reviewing the owner’s manual. Many manufacturers also provide assembly videos online, which can be very helpful. Follow the instructions carefully, and assemble the chair step by step.

Based on my experience, if you’re not particularly handy—which I would include myself in—you should plan to spend about 45 minutes to an hour assembling the chair. Professional delivery teams can usually complete the setup in 20 to 30 minutes, but for a first-time setup, allowing extra time is a good idea.

The good news is that assembly is very manageable. It may take a little time, but it’s absolutely doable for most people.

I hope you found this video helpful in understanding what to expect when setting up your new massage chair.

I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from Massage Chair Relief, and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye-bye.
