Dr. Alan Weidner:
Hi, this is Dr. Alan Weidner from Massage Chair Relief, and today we’re excited to have one of our valued customers, Francisco “Cisco” Gomez, joining us. Cisco is from Northern California and is the proud owner of a Daiwa Supreme Hybrid massage chair.
Cisco, welcome! I really appreciate you taking the time to talk with us. Hopefully, your story will help others who are deciding on a massage chair or trying to choose the right retailer or model.
Before we dive in, tell us a little about your experience with massage chairs. I understand this isn’t your first one?
Cisco:
That’s right—it’s actually my third massage chair. I first discovered massage chairs years ago when I saw a demo at Costco. I’ve worked many years doing hard physical labor—on ships, Navy destroyers during Desert Storm, and other demanding environments. After all those years, my body took a beating.
I used to go to a massage parlor in Calistoga, and the price kept going up—$200, then $300, even $400 a session. I thought, There has to be a better way. So when I saw the massage chairs at Costco, I was amazed at what they could do. I bought one for about $3,000, and my wife thought I was crazy for spending that much—until she tried it! After that, she loved it too.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s a familiar story!
Cisco:
Exactly. I had that first chair for about four years before the stitching started to come loose. It was an Osaki model. Because I bought it from Costco, they replaced it under warranty, and I decided to upgrade to a 3D chair. But that one didn’t work out—it was way too intense. The foot rollers were so strong they hurt! I returned it within a few days and went back to my original chair until that one wore out too.
When the second one broke down, I decided to look for something different. That’s when I found Massage Chair Relief online. I set up an appointment with your colleague, Ian, in the Fremont showroom. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
When I walked into the showroom, I thought, Wow, look at all these chairs—how do I choose? Ian explained the differences and had me try a few models. Then he showed me the Daiwa Supreme Hybrid, and as soon as I saw it, I said, “That looks comfortable already.” My wife told me to calm down and take my time, but once I sat in it, I was sold.
The neck massage was amazing. I’ve fractured my neck twice from falls while working—once falling nearly 30 feet off a rooftop—so that was important to me. The chair gave me incredible relief, and Ian explained all the features, including the HyFlex stretch program. I decided to wait to try that one at home.
The delivery went smoothly. The installers set it up and even showed me how to move it without scratching my wood floors. Later, I heard a rubbing noise when I repositioned the chair. I called Ian, recorded the sound, and sent it to him. Within an hour, a technician called me, walked me through the fix, and the problem was solved. I’m an engineer by trade, so I like figuring things out—but I was really impressed by how quickly you guys responded.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s great to hear!
Cisco:
Yeah, everything worked perfectly after that. Then I had my wife try it. I started her on an easy program called “Morning Wake Up,” set it for 30 minutes, and when I came back—she was sound asleep! When she woke up, she said she felt amazing.
Then I tried the HyFlex stretch myself. Wow. That stretch is incredible—the way it lifts, holds, and releases your body feels like floating. It’s one of the best feelings ever. I use the chair twice a day—after my morning workout and again in the evening around 8 or 9 p.m. Sometimes I fall asleep in it until 11!
It’s honestly as relaxing as the hot stone massage I once had in Cancun. I’m in my early 70s now, and it’s fantastic to feel that kind of stretch and comfort every day.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s wonderful. I know you had back pain and that serious fall. Has the chair helped with anything you didn’t expect?
Cisco:
Definitely! It’s helped my feet a lot. The foot rollers and airbags around the Achilles are amazing—I never realized how much tension I had there. It’s also great on the neck and shoulders. I work out regularly, and this chair helps me recover faster.
It even improves my sleep. After using it at night, I feel completely relaxed—like I’m floating as I walk upstairs to bed.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s great feedback. Where do you keep the chair in your house?
Cisco:
It’s right in the living room. Everyone who comes in notices it immediately—my son-in-law, my kids, even friends. My son has sciatica, and the chair has helped him tremendously. My daughter works long hours at Apple, and when she visits, the chair is the first thing she heads for.
Dr. Weidner:
I love it. So, what advice would you give to someone shopping for their first massage chair?
Cisco:
My biggest advice is: take your time and compare features. Don’t assume all chairs are the same. Some don’t have hip airbags or foot rollers, which make a big difference. Try several models, and if you can, visit a showroom like Massage Chair Relief.
I thought I knew a lot about massage chairs before visiting, but Ian really educated me. Watching your YouTube videos helped too—they gave me the knowledge I needed to make the right choice.
The Achilles massage, the stretch programs, the full-body coverage—all of that matters. You can’t appreciate it until you experience it in person.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s great advice.
Cisco:
And the Daiwa’s engineering is impressive. When I watched your videos showing the inside of the chair and how the rollers work, it helped me understand the quality. Knowing what’s behind the upholstery—the extra rollers, the precision in the movement—gave me confidence.
I love that the Supreme Hybrid massages multiple areas at once—back, legs, feet, hips, and shoulders. It’s like having several therapists working together.
Dr. Weidner:
Exactly. That’s the beauty of the split-track system—it can target different parts of your body simultaneously.
Cisco:
Absolutely. The chair is built beautifully, and the padding is just right. Sometimes I remove the headrest to get a stronger neck massage. It’s fantastic.
Dr. Weidner:
I’m so glad you love it. And as you said, even though these are mechanical products and things can go wrong over time, that’s where customer service comes in—and we take that seriously.
Cisco:
You really do. The response and follow-up from your team have been excellent. You checked in after the sale, and I appreciate that. Most places forget about you once they have your money, but you didn’t.
Honestly, I’m going to hop in the chair again as soon as we finish this interview—it’s my happy place. It takes all the stress away and lets me escape the world for a while.
Dr. Weidner:
That’s wonderful, Cisco. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.
Cisco:
It’s my pleasure. Anything I can do to help others find the right chair, I’m happy to do. Thank you again for everything!
Dr. Weidner:
Thank you, Cisco. It’s been great talking with you.
