What should you do if your massage chair stops reclining?
If the massage programs are still running but the chair no longer reclines, the first thing to try is a simple reset. This can save you time, money, and the hassle of scheduling a service call.
To reset the chair:
- Turn the chair off completely.
- Unplug it from the wall outlet.
- Wait several seconds to allow the system to reset.
- Plug the chair back in.
- Turn the main power back on.
- Restart the chair and test the reclining function.
In many cases, a reset can resolve temporary electronic or communication issues.
If the chair still will not recline after the reset, the problem is often related to a component called an actuator. The actuator is the motorized mechanism responsible for moving the chair backward into the reclined position and returning it upright. Most massage chairs also have a separate actuator that controls the leg rest or ottoman.
If the reset does not solve the problem, the actuator may need to be repaired or replaced. At that point, it’s a good idea to contact your retailer or warranty provider to arrange service.
