Unpacking your massage chair is relatively easy, but keep in mind that the boxes can be very large. The main chair body is usually packed in the largest box. If the chair is fully assembled before it’s shipped, everything may come in that one large box.

My recommendation is simple: don’t throw away the boxes or packing materials.

If there’s any chance you might need to return the chair, keep everything until the return period has ended. You’ll need the original packaging to safely protect the chair during the return shipment.

When you unpack the chair, you’ll typically find Styrofoam pieces, protective inserts, cardboard supports, plastic wrapping, and other materials designed to keep the chair from moving around inside the box.

Keep all of it.

If you keep only the cardboard box and throw away the protective materials, the chair can move around during return shipping. That movement can cause the chair to rub against the cardboard and potentially result in scratches or scuffing, particularly around the sides and armrests.

Fortunately, the packaging is relatively easy to store. The large box usually consists of a top and bottom section with a middle sleeve. The sleeve can be folded flat, making it much easier to store in your garage, basement, or another storage area while you’re within the return period.

So, unpacking your massage chair is pretty straightforward—but keep all of the original packaging together. It could save you a lot of trouble if you ever need to return the chair.
