When we participate in activities like sitting in a massage chair or relaxing in a very comfortable chair while listening to a guided relaxation, the benefits are measurable. People’s resting heart rates decrease, their blood pressure goes down, and their perceived levels of pain and stress are reduced. This told me something important. When people continue coming back, it shows that the more we anchor ourselves in relaxation, the more that state becomes our normal—rather than living in a chronically stressed condition.
