Almost every full-featured massage chair gives you two ways to enjoy your massage: automatic programs and manual settings.

Automatic programs are completely preset. The chair controls everything for you, including:

• Where the rollers move
• Which massage techniques are used
• Which airbags inflate
• The massage intensity
• The overall sequence of the massage

These programs often have names such as Morning, Night, Recovery, or Elderly. All you have to do is select the program, press Start, and let the chair do the rest.

Manual settings, on the other hand, let you customize the massage exactly the way you like it.

For example, you can choose:

• Whether the rollers focus on your neck, upper back, lower back, or glutes
• The massage technique, such as kneading or tapping
• The roller intensity
• Which airbags are activated and how much pressure they apply

In other words, you create a massage that’s tailored to your personal preferences.

Many massage chairs even allow you to save your custom settings, so you can quickly access your favorite massage program whenever you use the chair.
