Osaki OS-4D Pro JP Premium Reviews (4)

Hello Dr. alan,
We received our chair quickly without any issues. The white glove set up was quick and easy as well. This is a very therapeutic chair. I understand why they are used in Japan in medical facilities. The Inada Dreamwave is a good chair but this Osaki is a no frills down to business therapeutic chair that will certainly improve overall health. The Deep tissue is amazing and certainly above what most therapist call their deep tissue massages at close to $100 per hour. Wife loves it! We are still experimenting with the settings but so far we are very pleased. We did keep the original packaging just in case.
Thanks so much for all your help and the nice priority box that came in the mail with the goodies. I am very impressed with your business more than any experience I have had and I have had a few.

First of all, I highly recommend Massage Chair Relief and Dr. Alan Weidner. He is arguably the most knowledgeable Massage Chair expert in the USA and knows all the different features and nuances of different massage chairs. In addition, being a chiropractor gives him even more professional expertise. But perhaps even more importantly, he has the clout and the influence to go to bat for you, the customer should a problem arise with a massage chair.
The Osaki 4D Pro JP Premium Massage Chair is a fantastic massage chair. It is Japanese made which gives it a definite quality edge over the myriad of Chinese made chairs. It is smoother than Chinese made chairs which are functional yet not refined. The 3D functioning of this or any 3D chair gives it an adjustment advantage depending on whether you need a more vigorous or lighter touch massage. The rollers are smooth and gentle and the most humanlike of any massage chair I have experienced, and I have tried most including all the ones in Dr. Weidner's showroom.
The proof is in the usage. I use it almost daily for relaxation and therapy of aching lower back symptoms. We previously had a Chinese chair which was less refined, a little herky jerky and of lesser quality. My wife and daughter used it occasionally. But this Japanese Osaki chair gets used much more frequently by my wife, my daughter (15 y.o.), and me because it is so much more enjoyable. My wife almost invariably falls asleep in the chair and frequently uses it successfully for neck therapy since she is a dentist with occupational neck symptoms.
Caveats and likes and dislikes - This is a smaller massage chair and is not the right one if you are a 6 foot 4 inch 300 pound offensive lineman type. If you are 6 feet or less, and 225 pounds or less and not obese then this chair is fine. My wife and I do not like the fact that programs last only 15 minutes compared to 30 minutes on most other chairs. This makes you have to reset every 15 minutes. I like how much and how comfortable this chair reclines. After a relax massage program with it fully reclined, it remains comfortable enough at least for me and my wife to take a little nap unlike some hollow back feeling massage chairs. This chair is designed and manufactured by one of the oldest most established Japanese massage chair companies as opposed to a Chinese manufactured chair which simply assembles various roller, air bags and parts onto a massage chair frame in a factory with little experience or regard to quality or technology. It is an expensive chair, but well worth every penny. It is less expensive than the Inada Sogno chair which is also a refined Japanese chair which has been the Mercedes Benz of Massage Chairs for years. Comparing the two of them, even if it were the same money, I would prefer the Osaki 4D Pro JP because of the 3D functioning although the Inada is even more smooth and refined and much quieter. The airbags in the Osaki chair are less in volume and refinement in comparison to the Inada, but for me the rollers are the key and I prefer the rollers in the Osaki chair. The leg squeeze on the Osaki and the foot squeeze is pretty tight on the programs and the first thing I do is put the foot/leg on the lowest intensity. I enjoy watching TV while fully reclined and using the Relax Program with all intensities on the lowest. Then I enjoy the whole body in a less reclined position with adjustments for more intense deep tissue therapy except for the feet/legs. The foot rollers being absent makes it not as good a foot massage compared to foot roller massage chairs but not inadequate. The neck massage is superior to any Chinese massage chair I have tried and most any massage chair period. The heat function is not very good or functional. The stretch program is inferior to most other massage chairs including Osaki's other (Chinese) massage chairs, but this is not an important program to me. The length of the rollers are shorter than most massage chairs and quite frankly I wish the track was longer like the Infinity Iyashi.
Overall, this is the best massage chair for me - Not perfect, (that one doesn't exist yet) but still excellent. Again, by all means buy through Dr. Alan Weidner at Massage Chair Relief. He is personable, professional, hospitable, knowledgeable but most importantly, carries influence and clout to solve problems with manufacturing companies should they arise ( this I know by experience).

I purchased this chair from the Southern Ca. location. FIrst off I would like to state that there was no pressure to buy the chair. I had an idea of which chair I wanted prior to testing it. This is because I already own a massage chair that works perfect but it is 20 years old and the technology has advanced so much that it was time to upgrade. I choose the Osaki os-4d chair because of the deep tissue rollers. One important fact is it only has 2 rollers, not 4 attached too a motor. The advantage is a physical advantage as the rollers with 2 can get into the neck physically closer. The 4 roller motors cannot as the mechanism is to big to get up into the side of the neck and the top of the shoulders the way I want it too. The Luraco model 7 can do the same thing( I believe it has a 2 roller head as well). I tested the high end Anada chair and it just does not have a deep enough roller head to do a good deep tissue massage. Most of the other chairs I tested failed my requirements as I am more focused on the back massage. The airbags all feel about the same too me. The Luraco model 7 wins the airbag competition as it is quiet compared to all other chairs. when I sit on any massage chair I cannot tell if it has 100 airbags or 20 airbags thay all feel about the same. A massage chair should be consider based on the ability too fix muscle tension and remove pain. If you have ever been to a chiropractor you know they find the knots and press on them until the knots or tension is released. This process is not pleasant to be on the receiving end, but the results help relieve the back pain. This is why a deep tissue massage chair is better than a not so deep tissue chair. You can always soften a deep roller dept but you can't make them extend more than they can from the factory settings. The massage chair I bought does a great job and my back feels great. I really like the physically size of the chair because it is smaller than all the other chairs. I have my chair upstairs and the size of other chairs would have been a pain to get them up stairs into a 31 inch door frame. This chair has many programs and you can read about the programs online so I wont go into them. The OS-4D chair does not have rollers on the bottom of the feet. For me I really don't like rollers on the feet because it is the same scraping motion over and over. I believe this Japanese manufacture knows this and equips the high end model with out it as this model in Japan is certified for Medical use as well in Asia. If you are Diabetic than you are subject too foot sores and the scraping motion would be bad ( I do not have those problems). With the warranty massage chair relief provides and the price matching why would you buy a chair from anybody else. Some competitors will tell you the warranty is only good as long as massage chair relief is in business. This is true but you could also say to the competitor stores that maybe they wont be around also. The track record with massage chair relief and there expansion seems to point to a long term contract. The bottom line is my back is happy, my wallet is happy (the price I paid was less than the luraco) and the size is great. If the price was the same for the Luraco 7 and the Osaki OS-4D I still would have chosen the Osaki due to the size. The massage from both is the same with the exception of the noise factor and the foot roller. What ever chair you purchase make sure it has 3D. This 4D stuff they say is the ability for the massage roller to change speed Short of like walking to running and than back to slow motion on the movement of the head of the roller while contacting the back of your body at the same time. I guess other chairs cannot change speed in mid cycle constantly. Anyway the roller heads feel great. You really should put this chair on your list of chairs to maybe purchase. One more thing my other chair I have is a made in japan chair and it is still going strong after 20 years. Maybe there's something to a non Chinese quality chair ?

This is an outstanding massage chair. First of all it is manufactured in Japan by Fujiyroki and it is their EC-3900 model, but feel free to call and confirm. You can't buy the EC-3900 through their normal US distributor, which I won't speculate as to why, but as it turns out, through Osaki this is less than the EC-3800, so it is a win-win.
Now about the chair, rollers are great, really great. I will leave it to Dr. W. to explain, but they are fully adjustable and are exceptionally smooth. The neck and shoulder massage is great and if you have a tension headache, this thing can knock it out. This chair uses airbags too, but it is nothing like the Sogno on that scale. But from my perspective, I vastly preferred the rollers on this chair over the Sogno, although the Sogno has the advantage of the more calming airbags (101 vs. 40?)
I believe this is a leather chair as well and like Dr. W. said in his review of the 3800, the airbags are a little on the noisy side, but that hasn't bothered me. Finally the chair was simple to put together too. Now I will say that I am a little over 6'1 and about 185. I have no problem fitting in this chair, but I would venture to guess that if you very broad, you might want to consult with Dr. W.
In full disclosure, I purchased this chair from another store because at the time Dr. W. didn't have it available, but I felt obligated to write this review, because I found this site and all of the information on youtube he posts very beneficial in my research, so I wanted to return the favor by adding some content to his site. I have had my chair for about a month.
