Here’s a neck pain treatment you probably haven’t heard of before – using virtual reality. It might sound dangerous to pilot a plane with a sore neck, but Queensland researchers are saying it might help! They aren’t talking about actually flying a plane with your neck, but using a virtual reality program that works with neck movements.
The virtual reality “training” is in the form of three games and is designed to improve aspects of neck movement. The patient’s head controls the pilot of a plane as it flies into floating targets. It’s supposed to monitor, assess and treat neck movement control.
The virtual reality program is used through goggles that the patient wears that allows them to see the game in virtual reality. They are currently calling on volunteers with neck pain who are interested in testing the device.
