A researcher operating out of Emory University has put forward a new theory regarding stress; instead of trying to avoid it sufferers should use the stressful events in their lives to make themselves stronger.

Using the concept of resilience, which refers to looking back on past stressful events to draw strength in the present, people can endure even the most emotionally taxing events and come out the other end stronger.
