Rhomboid muscle strain can have a negative effect on a person. The rhomboids are muscles located in your upper back and link your shoulder blades to your spine. Stretching or tearing the muscles can lead to discomfort. Usually resting and avoiding activities to strain the muscles as well as icing are the normal course of treatment. This can also be supplemented with some anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen to reduce swelling, gentle stretching and exercises to restore mobility, refraining from lifting heavy objects, and even visiting a physiotherapist who can teach you mild exercises designed for the injury. Don’t expect a quick fix…the pain can take a few weeks to resolve.
